This could go into the FA thread but since we got a two'fer today............
Benson Mayowa resigns on a 2 year deal. I couldn't find financial details on this yet, but I'm guessing not huge $$ but slightly more than the $3 million he made last year(?)

Next up:
49ers sack leader Kerry Hyder gets a 3 year, $16.5 million deal with an extra $1 million in incentives.

It is interesting that we signed yet another FA from a division rival.

It looks like Dunlap might be a possibility anymore at this point. We will see.

Hyder is a nice player but I wouldn't bet my season on the guy. Also at that price the 49ers could have resigned him and didn't which should tell you something about his value.

I'm hoping they can sign Dunlap, really would be a decent boost.

Does he have an injury history?

Honestly he wasn't with them long, only one season but I do believe he tore his Achilles when he played for the Lions. He was relatively healthy last year for the 49ers though and seems to have been healthy the year before for the Cowboys in a limited role.

The Achilles tear happened in 2017 so it wasn't a recent injury.

Maybe the 49ers have other needs they want to address with their team you guys already have an all pro DE so signing Hyder probably isn't high on the list. Meanwhile we are dehydrating with the lack of production at DE with busts like LJ Collier leading the way.

Looks like we are going to go with the bargain bin shopping on the DL again. That worked out so well for us last year.

It is typical that PC/JS roll the dice on low risk/high reward players. Due to the contract details I suspect Hyder will be penciled in as a starter. At least they can do medical evaluations this year (I'm assuming!) as opposed to the Finney fiasco last year, so I have higher expectations.

The speculation is that Collier will be moved to mainly 3-tech and also rotational across the DL. Maybe he can forge out a role as an inside pass rusher and swiss army knife DL type?

Considering many think we need a pass rusher to pair with Bosa in the draft because Dee Ford can't stay healthy and frankly Bosa has a hard time staying healthy as well. If they really wanted him they would have brought him back it's basically all they have done is resign their own free agents and then sign a different DE and a older center. He is a nice pass rusher but if you are banking on him being your top pass rusher expect to go 9-7 or worse if Wilson isn't playing QB.

Don't know if I like it or not. A former athletic freak who has had massive behavioral problems and may or may not have enough gas left in the tank (he faded in a big way in the 2nd half of the season last year).

As was stated by <someone> in the FA feed: We need LB and CB help more than DL at this point. Bringing back KJ would have brought a more positive response from me Aldon.

Well, apparently he now has an arrest warrant out on a battery charge.

That was quick. Cut him and move on time?

Cut him now and run away, Oh and btw there is a 31 year old Linebacker out there that is a probowl talent just waiting so no need and think about sliding Smith to Linebacker. Cut bait go out and grab KJ Wright! lol

.Relax it's about $, the longer Wright goes without getting his desired $ the more likely the Seahawks resign him.

... also, the longer he goes w/out signing, the less he will end up getting... Another reason why the Hawks may resign him...
