Love the Boyle signing if Goff isn't cutting it we can plug him in and tank ala Curtis Painter/Colts

good for Prater.

I hope he rebounds this upcoming season.

Those damn goal posts were in the way last season.

should've just signed Painter. Who cares about age. Vet minimum would've saved a mill and a half.

at least Painter has experience at it.

I guess GM Holmes must've negotiated the trade to take place today, not yesterday, in order for the Rams to absorb that 2.5M Roster Bonus.

He pretty much swapped that savings out for signing QB Boyle. 2 QB's in for 1 going out essentially.

The Detroit Lions saved $2.5 million by delaying Matthew Stafford trade a day - Pride Of Detroit

Per Fitzgerald, Jared Goff was due a $2.5 million roster bonus on March 18. We all assumed that roster bonus would come to Detroit with Goff and a haul of draft picks, but by waiting the extra day, the onus for that bonus stays with the Los Angeles Rams.

“Since the trade was not executed before today that should remain with the Rams, increasing Goff’s dead money with the Rams by $2.5 million and reducing the Lions responsibility for Goff by $2.5 million,” Fitzgerald wrote in an explainer on Thursday morning.

I guess I saw him play in college. EKU vs Austin Peay. Nothing from that game made me think he would be on an NFL roster, even as a back up.

absolutely nothing to get excited about signing QB Boyle.

nada damn thing, imo

I am fine with it. You never know when the 1 former 1st pick that has not performed will all of the sudden show up, nothing wrong with taking a gamble.

I don't understand the pissing away with 2.5M on this signing.
That money could have paid for the entire 2021 Practice Squad.

If they want to attempt to upgrade Blough then the draft should be the way to go.

Goff goes down at any time, the season would be washed with or without Blough or Boyle.

I doubt there's much or any in guaranteed money with this type of signing.
He's damn near Takk McKinley type.
