Yankees apparently not bringing Brett Gardner back for his 400th season:

“A week before the start of spring training, Brett Gardner is home in South Carolina still waiting for the Yankees to make an offer.

Actually, the free agent outfielder is still waiting for the Yankees to begin contract negotiations.

According to a baseball source who asked to remain anonymous, the Yankees haven’t addressed Gardner’s status since last Halloween. That’s when the organization announced that it opted to pay Gardner a $2.5 million buyout instead of vesting a $10 million club option for 2021.”

I’d love him back cheap with a total understanding he’s the 4th OF

it’s Frazier’s time, no more messing around with Gardner stealing his ABs

I do like the Marwin Gonzalez signing. Plenty of defensive flexibility and if he can go back to being a 90-100 OPS+ hitter he's an even more useful player. 1 year/$3M. Nice to have some versatility with him and Hernandez.

Another one of my favorite Pedroia plays. From the Buchholz no-hitter.

They apparently feel like Tauchman can give you what Gardner would, and they're probably right.

Still sad though.

Robert Murray of FanSided reports that Justin Wilson is in "serious" talks with the Yankees.

This, combined with a report from Friday saying that Wilson was close to picking a team, would seem to suggest that the southpaw is close to donning the pinstripes for the second time in his career. He's always had control issues, but Wilson has been a steady performer nonetheless, most recently posting a 3.66 ERA and 23/9 K/BB ratio over 19 2/3 innings in 2020 with the Mets. Wilson would give the Yanks a third lefty in the bullpen alongside Aroldis Chapman and Zack Britton.

That's got to about do it for Brett Gardner, unless they have plans to deal Tauchman

They would be better off signing Bruce Springsteen......

I'm cautiously optimistic, and lord knows they need more LH bats.

I can just hear Sterling now

"Bruce juiced it!"

"Jay hit that a long way!"

'This Bruce.....wasn't born to run"
