Did I ever mention the time I saw a YOUNG Phil Hughes having fish tacos with Reggie Jackson at a hole-in-the wall spot near my old place in Newport Beach? I think Hughes was from the area. My wife(probably just girlfriend at the time) is a Yankees fan and was freaking out. She wanted to go over to Reggie and ask for an autograph and I said to leave the guy alone and let him enjoy his tacos. She always held that against me. Brings it up every now and then. No idea what they were doing in a place like that anyway. Total locals spot.

Shoulda seen if you could reach his tacos with a loogey.

96 playoffs at Camden Yards, Yanks won with a 4 run 8th. Key vs Mussina

5 hot NY drunk messes walking into Hooters, Reggie was in there, must have hated us, we were so obnoxious
Get back to our car, huge 2x4 smashed through our windshield

guess the NY plates gave it away

Who was that really tall pitcher you Ioved? Brackman?? Damn, we have been doing this a long time.....

The 3 B's!

Brackman

Banuelos

Betances (He at least turned into something-not the ace starter I anticipated however)

Of course, they were preceded by "Big 3"

Hughes

Chamberlain

Kennedy

All turned out to be pretty damn pedestrian.

TINSTAAPP indeed.

Reminds me of the Mets’ Big 3 of Pulsipher, Wilson and Isringhausen back in the day. That one didn’t go so well.

Reggie should have ducked out on the bill and left him there......I also hate Reggie, so I hope the fish tacos made him shit his pants...

WS here we come

Red Sox acquired OF Franchy Cordero from the Royals in a three-team deal involving the Mets.

Cordero is on the move again after he was dealt from the Padres to the Royals at last year's trade deadline. The 26-year-old has always wowed with his tools, but he strikes out a bunch and has a terrible time staying healthy. Cordero would seem to be the favorite to start in left field for the Red Sox as things stand right now, and he would offer fantasy potential in such a role. Boston could still look to supplement their roster, though.

Is this Franchy Cordero?

What would Red Sox fans say if you told them in 2018 that in 3 short years Betts, Benentendi and Bradley Jr would all be playing elsewhere?

:puzzled:

2 of those are expected. Only AB is a surprise. That was still their best OF ever(at least defensively).

the volatility of the Red Sox over the last 9 years is insane. Four 1st place finishes and 2 WS titles, four last place finishes and a 3rd place finish where they finished 19 back. I do miss the steadiness of the 2000's.

Not to mention there's been times the last few years where it felt like they're trying to lose fans.

Defensively, maybe, but it's not a slam dunk.

I'd still take Yaz/Lynn/Evans on both sides of the ball.
I remember Rice-Armas-Evans when I was a kid. Those guys all could mash. Armas actually won a home run title and played CF for the Sox. Can’t imagine he was much with the glove.

Yankees apparently not bringing Brett Gardner back for his 400th season:

“A week before the start of spring training, Brett Gardner is home in South Carolina still waiting for the Yankees to make an offer.

Actually, the free agent outfielder is still waiting for the Yankees to begin contract negotiations.

According to a baseball source who asked to remain anonymous, the Yankees haven’t addressed Gardner’s status since last Halloween. That’s when the organization announced that it opted to pay Gardner a $2.5 million buyout instead of vesting a $10 million club option for 2021.”
