I am very reluctant to add high priced players on the wrong side of 30 unless they are finishing pieces. Extending or picking up a young position player as a core guy is different but who knows we may have that already in Jung and best case scenario he plays 3B.
Really need an assessment year so we can analyze what pickups if needed we should pursue. Story is much more preferable than Bryant

i think we need 2 years to accurately evaluate what we have and what we need.

i think we are at least 2 years away from even considering signing big name FA's so who's available in 2022-23 off-season
The quality goes down sharply from next year to a year later. It would be great if everything lined up perfectly, but it doesn't. Next year is the year to jump in. Then we should acquire the final piece in a couple of years, whatever that final piece turns out to be.

Economically, the team can afford a lot, once seats can be filled again. There shouldn't be any problem with being able to afford one great and one good free agent a year from now.

Definitely Story over Bryant. Story is a local boy. He doesn't interfere with one of our best prospects position-wise. He isn't represented by Boras like Bryant is. Also, he shares my birthday with me.

I like Story too. I would pick him over Bryant for sure.
His wife and my Wife were bridesmaids and I was a best man in a wedding for our friends a few years ago. It was pretty neat.

There would be nothing precluding them moving Bryant off 3B, in fact that would probably be a good thing moving forward, probably more of a COF/DH type in a couple years

I wouldn't hate...

C - Trevino/Huff
1B - Lowe/Guzman
2B - Solak or Tejeda
3B - Apostel or Tejeda.... Jung later?
SS - IKF
LF - Dahl or Solak (if Tejeda is at 2B)
CF - Tavares
RF - Gallo
DH - Calhoun

Honestly I hope they all stay healthy and prove themselves worthy on the field or not and then the next guy, if there is an alternative

Works for me but that’s only 12 position players don’t we normally carry 13

Name 2 prospects not in the top 30 you think will make it to the show within the next 3 years.
I’ll go with

Blaine Crim
And
Jake Latz

This is a good article by Adam Morris. He guesses at the roster and starting positions for each of our minor league levels. Be careful looking at his table as the headers displayed wrong in my phone. They seem to be one column off.

I will give a third name as well, Cole Ragans.

Owen White might be very close In 3 years. If you mean 3 years from this coming Opening Day, then White would be at the top of my list. If you mean by the end of 2023 that might be cutting it close.

Man those are good ones.. Curtis Terry does a good job. Surprised they haven’t put him in AA yet. 4 years in A ball..

After a couple of years They have Foscue and some interesting SP picks and still IKF still at SS which I doubt but is as good as guess as any. Huff over Gallo for HR lead which assumes Gallo is extended. No FA signings

After seeing what Huff did in his short stint up here last year I am pretty excited about the guy. Hope his ability to throw out runners continues like it was in 2019.

Seems like BA is a lot higher on Allard than most anyone else. I think by 2024 at least 3 or 4 of our prospect starters, other than the ones listed, will be better than Allard.

Kyle Cody continues to get no respect.

I guess they don't want to assume any FA signings, but there will most likely be at least 2 that show up either in the rotation or in the lineup.
