I read somewhere on Foerster that it his acceleration that is lacking. Once he gets going he can skate. 1st "sniper" in a long time. Has real good size. At pick 23 I have no problem with a real upside player vs. another depth center.
You know me i like anyone with size and skill to be on this team.

Mom passed away last week and needed a break from the board.

Lots of things went on.

Nisky retiring out of the blue screwed us.

That sucks man. Real sorry to hear that. Condolences to you and the family.

Emil Andrae is the 2nd round pick. 5-9 180, LHD out of Sweden.

Seems like good value at #54. A lot of reports look like they had him more in the 30s. I really don't know much about him. His name showed up a few times as late first round potential though.

Great skater, good offensive upside. Willing to bang bodies, even as a small guy. Seems like a good upside pick to me.

Quite a few RFA's not being qualified around the league. Plus a handful of big name buyouts

Lundqvist, Turris, Ryan all bought out

Madiso Bowey, Mark Jankowski, Nick Cousins, Jeremy Bracco, Frederick Gauthier, Evan Rorigues, Troy Stecher

Not saying any of those guys are no-brainers, but clearly teams cutting costs; cap wise or just budget wise. Flyers seem to be a in very good spot relative to a lot of other teams.

Id like to kick the tires on Toffoli.
Probably looking at a Dman now that Nisky is gone though

Vegas and Nashville have both cleared a bunch of cap space. Twitter seems to think that's Pietrangelo money. Particularly Vegas. They were rumored to be in on him from the start. So I am doubting that is an option for the Flyers.

We'll see what happens..

What are your thoughts about a trade with Buffalo fo r Rasmus Ristolainen? He seems to always be rumored on the trade block.

Here's the deal though, anything short of a Petrangilo type player then we don't compete for a cup next season. We make the playoffs and then we're bounced again in the 1st or second round. We are weak at defense and a Shattenkirk, Martinez or Toffoli don't push us to the next level. If we fail to secure a big impact dman then we're back to another "3 year plan".

I think that makes tons of sense. He can be the 4C if Patrick/Frost are ready for 3C. He should be pretty cheap. Can be 3C if they need him. Veteran presence. Good defensively. Previous relationship with Fletcher.

I don't necessarily think that's true. Pietrangelo is obviously the most exciting and best move. But I still think they can compete without him.

Ristolainen could make some sense. 5.4M, decent numbers on a bad team. RHD. He's pretty close to an exact Niskanen replacement actually, statistically and contract-wise. Minus the veteran presence, but plus size.

If they can get him for a reasonable return, it could be a perfect fit. His contract expires at the end of this season, so it doesn't impact your expansion draft plans (unless he blows you out of the water and forces your hand, which would be great for the 2021 Flyers chances). Heck, I wonder if you could build that deal around a Ghost/Ristolainen swap.

Then you have cap space, a good, but maybe not great top 4. Solid depth up front. Great goaltending. You can stay in the thick of things until the trade deadline and have cap space/assets to make a major upgrade at the deadline where the 2021 season indicates you need it.

I actually really like Ristolainen as a potential fit.
