He will never start at any position so why bother. Might as well stay at 2B and sit on the bench or release him. Not really any other choice except a trade and that seems almost impossible

Like I have said for a year now, and like the Rangers have indicated, he needs to learn other positions to be a bench player. It has nothing to do with him being a starter at any other position. His days of starting are over.

Besides catcher, there are no one position bench players except in very unusual circumstances, like where someone is a pinch hitter extraordinaire. They have too few bench players to waste a spot on one who can only backup one position.

Even some backup catchers can play other positions.

I can't think of any position that would be improved that he might play.

Any person he backs up would weaken that position. The guy is a liability and if he can't improve at his own position why downgrade another position.

Our starters will be very young players for the most part. We are rebuilding and will most likely not win more than 75 games. We don't need youth in backup positions so he would not be blocking anyone in that role. What difference does it make how good our bench is?

We are certainly not going to spend anything significant in free agency to fill out our bench. Bench players are usually pretty bad on bad teams.

He certainly shouldn't start and they aren't going to release him. The bench is really the only option, but that means he has to learn another position.

But we can pray that the Rangers explore any and every option to find some team that would gamble on him. He’s owed 24M for the 2021 and 2022 seasons with a team option for 2023. Offer to throw in 14M reducing his hit on them to 5M for each year and maybe we find a team willing to play

We might have to throw in $18-19 million to get that done. Even then, it would be hard to do unless teams become convinced that 2021 will not have any attendance restrictions. So, any deal may have to wait until very close to ST to get done.

If he does seriously work at learning a new position or rwo that would help improve his tradeability I would think.

Since we are rebuilding and won't win many games for a year, next year we will owe him less so pack his bags and release him. The team will likely suffer as long as he is around.

I’ve heard some fans kick around the idea of trading Odor for David price with the dodgers who is hurt or odor for Evan longoria With the giants because both of those guys have bad contracts.

That might turn out to be the case, but I am not going to assume that before it happens. We wlll find out soon enough. If he refuses then he gets released or shipped out in a Josh Hamilton from the Angels to the Rangers type deal.
