Fantasy Pros ran a story of 12 must-have players.
They did stipulate that they must be a player outside the top 30.

12 Must-Have Players (Fantasy Football)

Since there's many of us that still may want to keep some of our picks close to the vest (and since there are a lot of us here), just gimme one of yours.

Mine:
TY Hilton (ECR = 53; ADP = 51)
Yeah, I'll take the old guy. Since 2008, Philip Rivers has had as many 1000-yard receivers as he had children. Those of you with good math skills may be thinking  but since 2008, that's 12 years. But only ten 1000-yard receivers? Don't forget the failed Eddie Royal years as Vincent Jackson's replacement. Then Keenan Allen had his multiple seasons of injury.

In the last 4 seasons, Rivers has actually had five 1000-yard receivers. Hilton definitely has the skillset of a Vincent Jackson or Keenan Allen. I admit there is some risk since Hilton is no spring chicken and did miss 6 games last season. Yet even in those 10 games, Hilton had as many plays/targets % ratio as did Jack Doyle and Zach Pascal who each (tied) garnered the most play-calls from the receivers.

Additionally, in the last 10 seasons, Rivers has averaged 567.7 pass attempts and 4432 passing yards. Last season, the duo of Brissett and Hoyer attempted a low 512 passes amassing 3314 passing yards, over 1100 yards less than a typical Rivers season.

Your turn. Pick 1 outside the top 30.

TY Hilton - unfortunately you can't coach up height.

I think both VJax and Allen being taller WRs helped garner Rivers' eye

Pretty sure I've made it clear who mine is this season

Robert Woods, WR20/Overall 46

getting over 130 targets, gonna catch over 100 of them, and I'll let the yards and TDs fall where they may after that

Didnt get a chance to click the link and don't have the chance to look up ADO or ECR at the moment but I think my must have this year is close to 30. DJ Moore is about to be a major stud.

I'm not really prepared to pick one at this point but I do think there will be a couple. The last time the off-season was delayed/shortened there were a rash of injuries - so I'm gonna go with a backup RB. ... Just spit-balling but someone like Chase Edmonds, Hunt, Snell, Damien Harris will be a league winner. Now there is one WR I think is being under-rated (as always) that being Marvin Jones.

Homer pick but OBJ at an ADP of 40.

Some skepticism there of course bc of the dumpster fire last year and Stefanski's system but Thielen and Diggs still thrived and that wasn't really all Stefanski's system..mainly Zimmer wanting to run the ball. OBJ will be 100% healthy, a motivated Baker and new head coach.

Just put it like this. Last year was an absolutely dumpster fire and Kitchens did everything he could to make it just that.

OBJ still was able to get 74 catches 1,035 yards. I mean that isn't good by any means but my prediction this year is 90+ 1,400 yards 8 TD's. That's top 5-10 WR value right.

I do like Ridley, Woods but another guy I love is:

DK Metcalf - WR28 - 57 overall

I'm seeing in the late 20's mainly. Berry has him at like 33.

You think OBJ will get the targets to get 90+ with Stefanski there now and with Hooper on board and Hunt being available for the entire season? I know they won't be working the same part of the field, but they're still gonna get theirs.

Yeah a lot of targets for Baker with Hooper and Hunt in that offense as well. We will see. I'm thinking his offensive scheme will be pretty balanced but we will see.

A couple that I like this year that are down the ADP list:
Marvin Jones Jr.- He just continues to produce every year and he is still only 30 years old. Also his QB, Stafford, does not get enough credit.
Mostert- I am grabbing him wherever I can. I think he will be the lead in the SF backfield.

Mecole Hardman (gonna be a monster)

Kareem Hunt (top five RB if Chubb goes down...doable anyway)

Hurst, and Jonnu (gonna be my 2019 draft Andrews/Dissly debate)

I kinda get all the Mecole love but at the same time are we sure he's gonna move up past Sammy and Demarcus Robinson into the #2 role? I mean shit, Byron Pringle outsnapped him in weeks 5 and 6 when Sammy missed both games and Tyreek missed week 5 and only played 50% of snaps in week 6.

I know Mecole is talented, but what makes everyone think he's just going to be utilized completely differently this year?

Dumb question:
Why isnt he ranked higher? Ive heard others say the same thing about him... slam dunk to get 100 receptions. Yet he is the WR19 ranked behind Sutton and Ridley?

prob the same reason Landry isn't higher, even though he consistently outperforms his fantasy ADP year in, year out just like Woods.
people chase hype, not production. Sutton with Lock and Ridley taking over Julio is all hype, and no substance.
I'm guilty of it at times too (I LOVE Gallup and think he'll outproduce Cooper)

when you get the targets Woods/Landry get, high-end WR2 is the floor, low-end WR1 is the ceiling. I don't see either being a top WR1, just cause those guys typically see 150+ targets, and just don't see Woods/Landry getting there.

I'll drop this over here as well for good measure

I certainly don't think he will. Its pretty obvious that the Chiefs don't either. They could've saved somewhere in the 13-15 million range simply by cutting Watkins, instead they restructured and hes still way overpaid. If there were any plans of Hardman, or even realistic expectations that he'd be handling #2 duties, why on earth restructure Watkins instead of signing a couple desperately needed defensive players with that cash?

That being said, he still scored six times with the sporadic use of last year, and even a very modest uptick in usage could still be pretty darned valuable. But hes gonna be utterly unpredictable baring an injury in front of him

Only 4 WR had 100 receptions last season. Woods should be top 10 if thats the projection.
