my family "block" is right near yale, near east rock.

new haven is a tough city, was god awful as a kid. i saw a guy get shot in a park under the highway overpass thru downtown, with my brothers. i was maybe 12? we were quite a distance away, but i heard a pop, saw one of 2 guys drop, and told my brothers to run.
Mafia? lol

I am 100% Italian. First generation. But from Northern Italy. The mafia always looked on Northern Italians with suspicion

my family used to chase him and his friends off their property when he came by for his "girl". for obvious reasons, no one wanted him in the family. alas, he married in. he disappeared when i was 4.

That is cool stuff. I've watched all the Mafia documentaries on TV. Those are mostly about the top level figures. My parents grew up in Italy during WWII. They lived under Nazi occupation during the second half of the war. It wasn't anything like the systemic murder and destruction in the Eastern Bloc countries but the Nazis still killed neighbors and friends of theirs as reprisal for partisan attacks. The Nazis took my grandfather away because he served with the Americans during WWI and lived in America for a time. Fortunately they eventually released him.

That is awful and what happened in Poland was the worst.
both were freed.

both joined the US forces. my pop freed his countrymen. he was 16 at the time, lied and said he was 18 so he could join. he then fought out his service time, came home, met my noni in her tiny family restaurant in new haven, and here i am.

Have you seen that offense? Tampa makes the playoffs with fuckin me at QB. A game manager like Brady with literally the worst QBR in the league last season will surely be smart enough to not put the ball in the air and just try to stay out of the way. If he does, he collects millions and a world of glory he doesn't deserve.

He had a down season, but don't count him out, the guy still has the preparation and game smarts to make the right decisions even if his arm strength has declined... It's those big 3rd downs, smart play's when it counts that Brady still possesses.. And he's got Gronk to throw to again.... DO NOT count him out... Big mistake

Rock, interestingly my wife is 3/4 Italian and 1/4 Polish. When I say she's Italian and Polish, I mean she has passports for those countries (and the US). The three grandparents all came into the US via Bensonhurst. We were just there for 5 days in January (long story why we went to NYC in January, but...) and wow, what a different world. I could never live in NYC again not only because of the weather but if I had access to those yid bagels, I'd be as big as a hot air balloon. Godamm those things! {drool}

Oh, he's not playing if he's not in a perfect offense. From what I've seen of TB, he most definitely is. Last season he set seemingly impossibly-bad QBR records. I think he's smart enough not to get in the way so much this year. Game-manage, let the weapons do what they do, don't let the ducks fly, blame everyone else when he fucks up, stay mostly outta the way, bask in the glory and make 100x more than he's worth.

Never said the guy is dumb.

We have an old friend who is in her early 80's and 100% Ukranian-Canadian. Wow, the food she makes, much of it with cabbage and potatoes. Shit is amazing but designed for guys working 12 hrs a day, not someone watching their weight.

yup, food designed to keep you full, because most people did manual labor, unlike today. you needed to fill up. Carbs do that.
