I think we all suspected that coaches were full of shit when they rank teams but this New York Times story provides some solid evidence that this is what's happening. I hear stories all the time about how the coaches don't pay attention to what's really going on during the season and just vote willy nilly. That's not even close to the truth. They know EXACTLY what's going on and vote crooked. I'm beginning to lean more and more toward letting the computers decide the rankings and take all the bias out of the process.

Coaches ballots need to be public throughout the entire season

But that isn't news

addendum

And they need to state who is actually doing the voting because we KNOW some of them hand the assignment off on others

My question is, why does it take a study to prove the obvious facts we ALL already knew? Why do we need Yale professors to put together a study of something that's pretty much common knowledge?

This is why the computer rankings exist in the first place. Human polls cannot be trusted to be bias free.

Like our government, they do many shady things. We know about them, they know we know and we know that they know that we know.

All they say is yeah, wtf are you going to do about it? So we continue to take it up the ass as everything gets more and more corrupt.

All I gotta say is term limits and public football ballots you bitches.

How many coaches actually vote in these polls? Think about it, most of them probably don't have the time to sit down and fill this out, and they definitely don't have the time to watch the games. So they probably just hand it off to an assistant to fill out.

In fact I think a few have even admitted they haven't filled it out.

Well if they are secret we will never know what to believe. Can you believe Urban Meyer? What about nick saban. Both denied, denied, denied until the press conference at their new gig so why would they not lie about how they vote?

Terrible troll attempt.

Who's trolling? Nick Saban denied multipul times he was the next coach at Alabama leading up to the announcement. You possibly cant be that clueless. Even Bob Stoops is in the club. Him and Saban and Meyer are friends and exchange thoughts and ideals in the offseason.

Lying doesn't have anything to do with this article or thread really, the results based on the final poll suggested that teams from the same conferences, favored teams from their conference. Teams that were non-AQ, voted non-AQ teams higher, and the same went for AQ teams. It doesn't having anything to do with lying on the poll, they just rank teams.
