It all still has to be negotiated obviously and a lot will come down to how bad the players want to play vs. how much money the owners are willing to lose.

Unless there is some miracle that happens that allows them to play a full season with fans, they are going to lose money.

I'm no expert on these things, but I would be surprised if not having the season means losing less money than having a 100 game season (I think that was the model they've been looking at) with no and/or limited fans in the stands.

yeah the comments of that one pitcher didn’t do the players any good, talking about how he had to get his. I heard Matt Joyce in yesterday and he made a lot of sense. He said hey if you guys want to talk about sharing revenue the next 10 years let’s talk about it but you haven’t before now.

Agreed.

I don’t think there will be a season either.

and if there is, I bet a lot of players end up sitting out.

Yeah, it's hard to gauge baseball players.

From everything I've read, NFL and NBA players are ready to go.

But baseball players are a different breed. lol

Yeah, I don't know if you saw, but I said that the time, that could come back to bite them as far as who the fans blame.

I agree with Matt Joyce, don't all of the sudden come to the table with revenue sharing when you've never wanted it before and now have suddenly decided that it's advantageous to you for this one season.

We shall see. Nothing is set in stone with the other sports either. Depends on what happens there.

If the other sports end up not being able to be played, fans will at least be able to look at that and know they worked together and tried.

Baseball won't be able to say that, at least not from how it looks now.

I agree for the most part but if I could bet everything I got on the nfl starting on time I would.

You can. Sports books have wagering on when/if these sports play.

Ok I will rephrase as I am not confident enough in offshore books to do that. I am extremely confident the nfl is playing no matter what.

I don’t know man.

Once you call “all in” that bet is official. Just hope nobody calls you.

Seriously thought, Goodell is just arrogant and stubborn enough to start on time no matter what is going on in the world. Would not surprise me in the least.

I noticed something kind of interesting today.

About a week or so ago, the county I live in started loosening the restrictions. One of them was that wearing a mask is no longer mandatory. Just strongly recommended.

The first couple of days, I saw a few people without masks on and figured that number would grow.

Instead, I realized today that I don't think I've seen anyone without a mask since those first couple of days. Even though there are more people out.

Yep. Only thing that can prevent the NFL is lack of testing considering how much bigger those rosters are

I'm on the owners side

Same

But both parties are being very tone deaf to gripe over compensation to this extent when we have a nation of people going to work in an even worse environment than the players will be in.

The players are being very short sighted. This is an awesome opportunity for them to gain fans. And thus increase their compensation long term.

sad thing is you can basically social distance throughout the game in baseball so should have been the first to return

Ok.

Forget about the actual $ numbers involved for a minute.

If your employer asked you to take a fraction of your normal salary to work in more hazardous conditions, how would you react?
