I don't know what goes on in the minds of these 4 and 5 star recruits, but when you're a teenager being told by everyone that you're a future NFL star and that your shit doesn't stink, many of them probably think they can compete for early playing time wherever they go.

I do agree that playing time should be emphasized, but that can be somewhat tricky. What do you do when you tell a kid they'll be a starter early and they just don't?

It's unfortunate but it's a fact that UW will always be a tier behind the USCs, Alabamas and Ohio States of the world when it comes to recruiting.

You're right. The playing time is a slippery slope but they can emphasize some type of playing time early on over the power house schools where they could possible sit a couple of years cause of stacked talent. If the kid isn't getting some type of playing time than it could be cause of injury, a lower star recruit stepping up turning heads or just doesn't understand the playbook or disappoint effort. In order to get on tract with the Bamas and OSU of the worlds, they need to start winning their OOC national televised games and the big bowl games. Vegas Bowl is a nice win but that's mid tier bowl that doesn't sway top recruits.

The media played a large part. They were hyping him up from the get go and the sheep ate it up.

I think they contributed by just assuming Eason would be the starter. I think they hyped up his high school pedigree and being a local prospect with tons of potential but I don't think any of them realistically expected him to light things up.

Production wise I think he was exactly what I expected. A guy who didn't carry the team, made some jaw dropping throws but just wasn't a great QB.

I never understood the infatuation with big, strong armed QBs. They say you can't teach arm strength, but you also can't really teach accuracy or touch either. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I'd prefer a QB with average arm strength and great accuracy as opposed to a QB with average accuracy and great arm strength.

The same shit is happening with Huard and some UW fans being stupid as they are will keep sticking their tongue in the light socket because they're that god damn dumb. Not saying Huard will or won't kill it but these tards will have him in the running for the Heisman before he ever suits up as a Dawg.

This class has fallen apart but not because of lack of effort on Lake's part.

I've got my fingers crossed something improves. I think every year at this point in the process I've been somewhat down on how we're doing at recruiting.

A number of guys who ended up being some of our top commits weren't even on our radar at this point in recruiting. Also who knows how much some of the offers/commits we have will improve.

I could just be convincing myself not to be concerned, but I suppose we have to cross our fingers that these 3* guys are the next BBK, Greg Gaines, Will Dissly, Nick Harris, etc. I'm never the type for blind optimism, but we just have to keep an open mind and if this recruiting class does turn into a bust, then we criticize it when looking back if the program doesn't have much success with these guys.

The Huard thing I think will be a shit show. If whoever is the 2020 starter (if there is a season) doesn't absolutely dominate (which is unlikely) everyone will be calling for Huard.

I will say that wanting Huard isn't as stupid as falling in love with Eason. Having watched both Eason and Huard's high school tape, I believe Huard was the vastly better QB in HS. Eason got his 5 stars by being 6'6 and having a stronger arm than half of the starters in the NFL at 18. Eason had a lot of potential because he had/has a lot to improve on. Huard IMO doesn't have much he needs to improve on.

I don't interact with the people at Husky Nation because most don't know what they're talking about, and whenever someone has some form of constructive criticism they're treated like they're some negative nancy who doesn't know anything.

I post most of my UW related comments here because you guys actually know what you're talking about.

Good points. I do worry though that if we convince some highly ranked prospect that they'll get early playing time at UW, they'll immediately transfer out if they aren't getting significant snaps by their second year.

Recruiting is tough and probably the thing I'd hate the most if I was a head coach.

It's a scary game to play but if that highly rank kid is getting beaten out and not seeing the snaps he thought than he might have been over ranked and not living up to the hype. I think if the hype is there than he'll see an increase in year 2. They need to do something to get back to the top of the Pac and compete for the CFP.

Ducks don't make the cut. UW still got a shot.

Based on what @AlaskaGuy has said and the fact that the 3 other programs he listed are the elite of the elite, I think we'll have a very uphill battle.

Additionally, the fact that the programs he listed are all far from home tells me he doesn't really care about staying close.

Hope so. He'd be a huge addition. I don't have high hopes, but I'm always the pessimist when it comes to this shit.

I'd rather be wrong and happy than right and just having confirmation of my opinion.

He's getting pressure from both sides .. that little cvnt Gee Scott and his fvck face dad are recruiting him for OSU and the likes of Savelle Smalls, Tracy Ford and a few others are whispering in his ear on UW's behalf.

I agree. If they were heavily leaning to staying home, there would at least be some other PAC schools listed there.
Malloe and Adams have done great jobs with recruiting, but its gonna be an uphill battle with both JT and him.
We got a new coach whose got a mountain of a task of repairing perceptions about where this program is headed after the disastrous performance during conference play last year.
Everyone is kind of left still wondering wtf happened last year and perceptions do matter. It maybe May, but still feels like were once again behind most of the other top teams of the p5 conference's when it comes to recruiting for the class.

We'll see how it goes, but right now, I`m not pleased with recruiting and this program.

This isn't good. The 247 crystal ball just flipped in favor of Oregon. This guy was a Washington lean since last year.

Moliki Matavao, Liberty, Tight End

When I saw that recently, I was also a bit shocked. We got a new less experienced coach at that position and maybe that's driven this. I don't get the ducks call for him on this one, especially with them having a new OC whose known for running the rock a lot. A LOT.
There will be plenty of TE focused play in the Husky offense going forward.

Been really busy lately and just read a shit load on UW's recruiting and I can't say things look good right now. Story come national signing day will probably be how we lost so much in state talent.
