Oddly, Scarneccia retires and yet he spent a week with BB at the Combine in February. I heard that he still has an office on Coaches Row and will be a 'consultant' in 2020 and 2021.

This is great news.

If Scar is like most retirees, he doesn't just want to do nothing after 35 years of being part of something else. Sitting home and reading a book just doesn't quite cut it. He'll probably be a 'consultant' until Belichick calls it quits.

So true, so true.

Problem for the trolls is that they can't admit the same is true for the Chiefs and Mahomes, Saints and Brees, Texans and Watson, Ravens and Jackson and Bucs and Brady.

This is the first time in 20 years that they can watch the patriots w3ithout worrying about TB12...................Then again a problem could explode for them, to be known as JS4.

Way to early for that smack talk. We need to prepare to ignore "our lumps" and if something else happens just enjoy all the gravy.

It's been reported the Stidham likes the cleats on his plant foot to be longer than the cleats on his non plant foot. The Colts are reporting this as a potential uniform violation. Does not surprise.

If he caught it early, it took the surgeon about 15 minutes to open, tuck, internal stitch and external stitch. He was was probably in the hospital rehab in two days. Most athletic hernia are a minor tear in the abdominal wall and the intestine shifts into the opening and causes a small lump. If ignored the wall continues to tear ad the lump gets larger and becomes uncomfortable. If left too long, then it becomes a matter of netting and repositioning the intestines which have dislodged.

Sounds like he felt something while showering and had it looked at immediately.

We should have a pretty good idea of how good this team is by week 6. Seriously, they play home week 1 and then Sunday night week 2 against the Seahawks. Home again against the Raiders and then at KC for the feature 4:25 game. Then they finish up before the Bye with the Broncos at Gillette. Until we know how good the OL is and if Stidham can get rhythm the WR and the defense can adequately fill in the holes.

If, if, if. I think that all of the pieces are there and it's just a question of just how good those pieces really are.

The interesting thing is that there are no dates yet. The hope is that the season will start the first week of September, but it might be the first week of October. If it was a normal year, we'd be 10 weeks from the opening of training camp the third week of July. If this stay home lasts into June then it looks like the best scenario would be no preseason games and starting mid September. Most likely, October would be the start.

The biggest concern is starting training camp and have an entire team come down with the virus and that would kill the season. Especially if by some freak thing a player or coach died as a result.

The first four games are against teams that have spent themselves on offense the entire off season. Seattle's D wasn't bad but certainly wasn't great. LV had a less than average defense and did nothing with it. KC was an offensive juggernaut and improved it but lost some of the D and did nothing to fix the previous weaknesses. Denver went all out on their offense and the defense is a year older. The 49ers seem to be in SB shock. Being up 21-0 then giving up 7 scores in a row left them numb.

Since the both the patriots' offense and defense is unknown, most people are looking at the first six games and saying that 0-6 appears to be where this team will be at. On the the other hand, if the new QB and his WRs get on the same page and the OL can give Stidham 3.5 seconds, 3-3 and 4-2 might not be unachievable , since 4 of the 6 are at Gillette. And, the opponents may not take the Patriots as seriously as they should.

Three of the next five are on the road against division opponents and the Texans. The two home games may be the toughest of the season. Buffalo appears to have made offensive improvements and their defense was good. They will be the biggest test with the AFCE. The jets are still a mystery and no one can be sure what's going on. It doesn't appear that they are any better than the Patriots, but one never knows. The Ravens without question just bulked up their muscles and they intend to be in the SB where they truly thought that they should have been in 2019. It wouldn't be surprising if the team went to Miami after the Super Bowl and threw black roses on Don Shula's grave and stopped to urinate on Mercury Morris' lawn before going back to Baltimore for their parade. The Texans appear to be in disarray and even though it's a home game for them, they'll struggle. The Cardinals will either be very good or be an enigma like they are every year. Beat the hell out of teams that shoulkd be a struggle and lose badly to second and third tier teams.

These last five games might be a breather for the Patriots. They could be coming in anywhere between 4-7 and 7-4. Of these last five only the Bills made the playoffs in 2019. The Chargers, Rams and Fins are on the road and last two are the normal finish for the Pats. Neither the Chargers or rams are a huge challenge and playing in Miami in December or January is pleasant compared to the ugly heat and humidity of September. Playing the Bills and jets at home might be just what the doctor ordered.

It's a tough schedule. If all of the pieces are misfits, then a 4-12 season is totally possible. If the pieces do fit and the puzzle goes together quickly, 12-4 might be the biggest surprise of 2020 and with $125M in cap space in 2021..........buckle up cupcake.
