Not tossing it aside....he was awesome in that run. And I think he has all the ability to lead a team on a run like that again.

All I'm saying is....look at his career as a whole instead of one portion of it. You have a lot of inconsistency and inability to stay on the field. That's why a lot of fans aren't doing cartwheels right now.

what a ridiculous quote from richard dawkins in your sig. did he really say that?

Holy wall of text, Batman.

I did work in that post...It flowed like hot butter though...The butthurt is strong from the disaster that was the 2019 Chicago Bears season.

The Foles deal may very well be Pace's insurance policy to stay on as GM. Pace's "excuse." If things go south, he signed a SB MVP.

The signing seems to checks off a lot of boxes regarding QB, but they're mostly political imo.

Religion doesn't reach humanity to "be satisfied with not understanding" the world.

It does though. Throughout history the church has fought science/logic/free thought to the point it has held many prominent thinkers as heretics.

The church has been very slow to catch up to science and typically only begrudgingly agrees when it's backed into a corner and can no longer deny it's findings.

If you were to only follow religion and be ignorant to philosophy and science....you would have little to no understanding of the actual world around you.

Afterall….the original idiots who decided to promote a flat earth, like Samuel Rowbotham, did so first and foremost due to a literal bible interpretation.

Can we please take this to a different thread? Lol. I don't think it's an unreasonable request. Religion, the existence of god... important topics. I just don't know about battling it out on the Chicago Bears SportsHoopla forum in a Nick Foles thread.

No it isn't. He's the starter. It's in the bag outside of pure formality.

Look, other than noon, who is a meme at this point...

3u2i29.jpg

...nobody is fooled by Biscuit.

Look, I'll be the first to say, and said it before, ol' Mitch all of a sudden becoming the guy would be the absolute BEST thing that could happen, even after this Foles signing. But it ain't happening.

This "competition" talk is bullsh*t.

Mitchell Trubisky's career defining moment to this point is getting a hug on national television like a 7 year old who just scraped his knee because why?

Because he sucks horribly. Literally the only reason this man continued playing last season was because his backup sucked more. If anyone anywhere near Foles' capability was on the roster last year, Mitch would have been benched minimum 8 games ago and we wouldn't even be having this discussion right now.

Nick Foles threw for more yards in the Super Bowl than Mitch has thrown in any game in his entire career...which includes quite a few against the Lions. THAT is an actual defining player moment.

It isn't even close between the two and add in that Foles and the coaching staff have history for seamless integration? Yeah...The answer is right in your face.

Fellas, the NFL is not just sports...The NFL is sports ENTERTAINMENT. You can make every stats-driven logically sound pile of whatever argument you want. Nobody, particularly casual fans (the largest group of fans), wants to watch this kid under center anymore. The majority of the fans get it...The coaches get it...The players get it. They latter two won't say so because "we don't have any turds on this team" and I do commend them for that, but the writing is on the wall.

Last year was terrible. We were dead men walking from week 1 and although there was a lot of valid argument about how much emphasis to place on one game...it was obvious that we were going nowhere from the first game. Why? Because of the QB position by far and large. By the end of the season? Nobody cared. LOL I get a chuckle looking at the Vikes game thread...It's like 4 posts by richi about how bad Biscuit sucks, one other Bear fan (I forget) agreeing in a one liner and few Vikings fans chiming in this or that. Like, how f*cking sad is that for this team? The team is not that bad to deserve such treatment. Mitch and Chase are.

Nobody wants to run 2019 back. If those of us who bleed blue and orange were fed up with the Bears by the end of 2019, what do you think a casual fan did? Do you think they even turned on the TV? Yeah...No.

BDN. Buy your t-shirts and pray he has some of whatever that magic stuff is they claim he has in Philly. We'll need some of it to jump back into the upper tier of NFL teams.

Sorry Jiddy, but this is a whole lot of spinning your wheels. You've said this stuff many times. Plus, no one really disputes a lot of this. Last year wasn't fun and Trubisky isn't good. Outside of Noon, ZERO people are lobbying for Mitch in here. No need to sell that viewpoint to us.

Nothing about what you say changes what's happening, though. You still haven't addressed why we would tell Bridgewater (with whom we offered 60 mil) that we couldn't guarantee him the job... but then turn around and offer it competition-free to Foles.

No one here is making a statistical argument. The above paragraph is not logical. It's also not logical that this regime who invested everything into Mitch. Would not give him one final opportunity to claim the job.

Even if he's working against a deficit from the start against Foles in a competition. There's an f'n competition. Sorry. If Mitch lights it up in camp and pre-season while Foles looks uninspiring? Mitch will start.

We can all sit here and moan about not wanting to see Mitch. But he's going to get every last shot up until the day they absolutely HAVE to bench him.

This is all just, logic.

Take it fwiw.......

But it sounds to me its still an open competition.......

Make the best qb win.....

Outcome #1: Mitch shows up with the chip on his shoulder that he's always needed and has a great camp/pre-season. He wins the job and is much better off for having gone through the challenge/competition.

Outcome #2: Mitch stays doing Mitch things and we move onto a veteran QB who is sure to be an upgrade from last season. With a ceiling that we all know can be sky high in this offense. Even if only for short bursts of time.

I'm fine with this.

Its kinda of a win/win.....Unless of course Foles folds........And its not like he had that SB season magic in Jax.....So Im not really expecting that to begin with, but just be 75% of that and then I do think our defense can finally carry our offense.........

Not a chance for Mitch, he's done right now. This very moment. It's only optics.

The sh*t about Bridgewater being afraid of Mitch competition is internet hearsay anyway. The Bears will never say that he (or anyone else of the meh available QB options this offseason) is guaranteed the starter, because they're not going to throw Mitch under the Bus. Simple as that. You could argue Bridgewater and Foles are two different situations, as Foles has ties to Nagy and our coaches so he will slide in much more seamlessly, but even then I'm 100% sure Bridgewater would be starting day 1 for us if it went that way outside of Corona basically giving him zero reps with the first team.

It's all bullsh*t. Foles will have a large majority of the snaps with the first team this offseason. And will start day 1.

BDN T-shirt. Buy it.

Foles wasn't too bad last year in Jacksonville. Look at their offense on the whole with him in and out and there wasn't much of a difference. Foles had a great game 1 going before he got hurt. His first couple games back were alright then he was bad the 3rd, leading to being replaced by Minshew again. But man, that offense was just bad like ours was, so i'm not quite sure what to make of it.

I think at minimum, we've got a really nice backup who has a history of catching lightning in a bottle. That's if Mitch suddenly puts it all together and wins the job. At best, we get a guy who knows the offense, can step in as starter and lead this offense to average or even above average performance.

He's not done. Despite his less-than-stellar performance up to now, he's known for working hard and being humble. He'll get a chance to compete with Foles and will get the job if he performs better. The coaching staff has no reason to completely give up on him. They'd like nothing more than to see him figure it out and pilot this offense toward superbowl contention. You can argue that they've gone about it the wrong way, simply handing him the job with no competition. They've remedied that now.

Maybe real competition from Foles will cause something in Mitch to click. Maybe not. I won't hold my breath that it will: it seems like Mitch just doesn't have the ability to see the field like he needs to but you never know.

Still, if Mitch indeed sucks and/or Foles is indeed better than Mitch, he'll get the job. Pace and Nagy now have more pressure on them to win rather than make Trubisky into a franchise QB so i have no doubt whatsoever that they'll give the job to the better player.

My mind refuses to even acknowledge this as a possibility at this point. I just want a fun 2020 season. Please God no.
