This has a huge impact on me and also very much to my family. I work for the state Dept of Corrections. Finally, just today the governor decided to suspend visitations. Also, packages are not allowed as far as I know to come into the faciliries. It's only a matter of time before they keep from going home. It sucks, but I would totally understand. I would hate to bring anything home to my family or anyone for that matter.

The caronavirus has basically cancelled all sporting events for the near future. I hope that this is short lived, but I would say there is a chance to we may see this carry out into May.

I just hope we are able get the virus under control because I don't want to see the football season affected next fall.

Just crazy to see the sporting world go from I think there is only 1 day a year where there is no sporting event of the major sports to now it could be months before we see another event.

Kind of why I'm surprised the NFL is thinking about pushing back the start of the league year. They could be the only sports news for months talking about signings and trades. Would be a huge boost.

Mixed bag for me, but overall good. Not sick, taxes done, work from home, retirement investments down, need a haircut, no sports withdrawals, miss going to the pub for a drink, hope everybody stays safe!

I'm retired and have taken a 30% hit in the IRA. The only place I go is Walmart or the Grocery store for food or necessities. You never realize how bad people can be until something like this happens.

Would you under any circumstance buy 64 rolls of toilet paper? 48 rolls of paper towels? If your child's school announced closure, would you buy 60-80 cans of Chef Boy-R-d Beefaroni, Lasagna? Would you buy 15 boxes of cereal?

I'm serious, I went to Walmart yesterday to pick up a couple of personal items for my wife and picked up a small container of Cottonelle wipes, the last package on the shelf. I use these all of the time and keep them in my car to wipe my hands after going into any public place. Believe it or not, this woman came up to me and pushed me and said, "I saw those first, their mine." She actually tried to reach into my cart and get the wipes. I pushed her arm away and opened the wipes and cleaned my hands after touching her. Then walked away. I went to the grocery store and across from it, is a BJs Discount and they had advertised on facebook that they had toilet paper, paper towels and Clorox Sanitizing wipes in limited supply. The ad said one per customer, but someone said that they were limiting it to one item each per cart to keep people from bringing in six or eight kids as "customers". This person said that they had a large professional sign that said, "Don't hoard. Share with your neighbor and allow him to protect himself too. He's also protecting you."

Didn't matter. people got out of control and the police had to be called in and the store fenced off the products and made people line up and employees handed out one each until they were gone. Ever see a line of cars over a half mile long waiting to get in a BJs?

A lot of my office can and will telework beginning Monday. I'm one that can't, but I'd rather work in a half empty office anywho.

Crazy.

But on the flip side, there are a lot of stories about people offering to help. The local Next Door website has lots of people offering to help neighbors with runs to grocery stores, help shoveling snow, etc. So yes, there are jerks, but there are lots of helpers in our communities as well.

By the way, did anyone see the videos of the Italians dining from their balconies yesterday? That was awesome.

I have thrown the towel in on 2020. Reset in 2021!!!

I am afraid that we might see the corona virus popup like we do the flu. Just hoping that over the next year we learn enough to help keep the virus contained and limit the impact to be similar to the flu.

Yeah, I finally did get affected by this. My local 7/11 isn't doing refills anymore. Sucks because I stop by all of the time with my 52 ounce plastic mug. Bummer.

I sell wine and things are going to be grim for awhile. At best.

On the upside, I have enough for personal use to float a battleship.

Restaurants just got shut down in Maryland today. I'm in management, so I get a salary (for now, anyway), but I don't know what is going to come of this. I feel really bad for our servers and bartenders.

First world problem, I had to cancel a family vacation for 8 of us to Hawaii. Losing a fair amount in car reservation, hotel, airline cancellations, etc.

Wouldn’t it have been terrible to be stuck in Hawaii?

Got my haircut today and went out for my last meal in Des Moines tonight until this is over - hopefully sooner rather than later.

My wife was looking at tickets to the Dominican Republic since they are so cheap. Kept trying to tell her that by the time we could take the trip there is a good chance there would be a travel ban in some way. About an hour later her work sent out an email that anyone who goes on a trip would have an automatic 2-week quarantine put on them when they got back. So yeah no trip to the DR for us.

Sorry I haven't been around much the last couple of days. Unfortunately with this virus my job has now had to go completely online which kind of stinks since a huge chunk of what I do is meeting people and trying to encourage them in whatever is going on in life. So that means the last couple of days have been spent just figuring out the new norm and then getting others on board with the same idea.

It's so ironic that it was never more important to maintain the social fabric at a time when we must all keep our distance. At this moment Carl - you are doing what I would call God's work. Your skills sets should work well for you in this mission.
