Dak really overplaying his hand for a guy who needs a great line, great RB, hall of fame tight end, and top receiver to excel and still struggles versus good teams and defenses. He currently works in a state with no income tax and works for team that gets hurt endorsement deals that he would not get elsewhere. He is on the cusp of being paid like a top 5 QB even though most of us would likely take 10 NFL QBs above him headed into next year. He had a great narrative as a team first guy and he may now blow it for what a few million dollars a year that he would more than make up for with less state income taxes and more endorsements. If we wants to win, then take the over 100 million being offered and run. Ridiculous for a guy with a horrible record versus winning teams since 2016 and who has only won one playoff game and missed playoffs a couple of times in his 4 years with us and had a HC run out of town.
The OL play has not been great since 2016 although it was pretty good last year.
The running game was just not effective too often last year and it was the passing game carrying the running game
Witten stunk and TE play has never been to the level under Dak that it was under other Cowboy QBs
We had really, really good WR play last year, but shit the first 3 years.

I have no problem with people not wanting to break the bank on Dak as that is their own personal opinion, but this BS narrative of it being the players around him just has to stop. This team is just about the same with or without Zeke. Without Dak it's a dumpster fire. Dak had one of the greatest rookie seasons in history in 2016 and was fantastic last year. I love Zeke, but in a cap world, Zeke is the guy we should have let go IMO

Dak is the one wanting the biggest contract.
and even with that it takes the other 52 players on the roster doing their job to win games against both teams with winning records and with losing records. it can never be laid at the feet of just one

this isnt about worth? No player is worth the money they get at top QB money. However that is the market.
Dak will get his 35 mil. & over 112 in guarantees. This I know.
Thing of it is. I cant complain even though I would love to have him for 30-33 mil.
Not just Dak but all football players should always go after all they can in their 2nd contract. (1st after the rookie contract)
That is what most of them have played their entire lives for. They play college (allegedly) for free. That is 4+ years. Some have played football since about 7 to get to this point. They finally get to a point they get to have some say in what they get paid after decades of work & then get asked to take a discount &/or lose that control? As much as I hate it. All football players should play hardball with their 2nd contract. get all they can.

Now 3rd contracts depending on the players. Then you might want to start looking at your legacy vs. just getting all you can.
I agree. It is not up to me to tell a player what he should settle for. However, they need to be sure that if they price themselves out of the market for the team they are negotiating with that there is another team ready to pay them that price. I'm not sure that is the case with Dak and that is what he has to be careful with if his goal is to 'get all he can'. If the Cowboys are offering $35M per for 6 years and he won't sign it, are you confident another team would offer that? My gut says no.

can you name one QB in the history of this game that didn't require the other 52 "doing their job"?

Confident? No.
but I would believe a team thinking they are that one QB away from a superbowl I would think would give him 35+ for 4 years (what he wants is the years) to try & get that ring before their door closes.
Bears come to mind (have no idea what their cap is like)

Honestly though I still think we sign him so in my mind this wont matter.

  • Nope but Guns seems to be placing the whole blame on Dak. Dak deserves some of the blame but let's not rule out the playcalling and the failure of the blocking and running game and the receivers or the defense not being able to stop mediocre offenses. Let's just blame Dak

that really doesnt answer my question.

BTW
OUR OT, G, C, RB, DE at one point our WR, Currently our CB all want their own best contracts for position. So that statement still goes to the Cowboys if they were playing horrible.

Now was Dak the reason we lost to winning teams or was it the team? I ask again.
The QB gets most of the blame when a team loses and most of the praise when the team wins. It comes with the territory.

Bullshit, Aaron Rodgers gets almost all of the blame when his team loses but Dak is blameless when the Cowboys lose. Dak is the leader of this team.

Very true. Yet still not accurate.

I think some new blood would do this team some good. Not the QB, at least if he can live with $35 million per year, he has plenty of fight. I would have second thoughts about paying Cooper after looking back on him quitting in two of the biggest moments from last season. Would love to see a some tougher DT's, DB's and an upgrade at TE as well

It wont hurt my feelings to Fran tag Cooper & see what next years shows. if he left it wouldnt break my heart but still would like to keep him another year if possible.
I have been wishing for a bad ass DT for a long time now. DB as well. but if I could only choose one. Shore up the trenches 1st. TE while I know needs upgrading, would be down on my list of urgent fixes. Waiting to see how our new offense with McCarthy uses the guys we have.

DT, DB or WR is who I hope we land in the 1st. (I will never complain about OL ever even if we didnt need)

By individuals like you, yes. A huge majority of fans recognize that football is a Team sport and depends on all facets and players to be successful

Don't be so naive, the QB always gets most of the credit for a team's success.

My guess is Jerry gives Dak a huge contract and lets Cooper walk.

Bull Shit.....Packer fans for years have pointed to his lack of support....everything (RB, WR, Line, Coach & Defense) has been used as an excuse. Packer fans are far and away the worse at propping up their QB

Dak had a lot to do with loses last year....nobody is saying he didn't. He also played extremley well in loses like the Vikings and the packer playoff l;oss in 16.

Fair or not Rodgers is considered an elite QB by most folks while Dak is still a work in progress. Dak came up big against losing teams in 2019 but shit the bed against winning teams. This is a fact.

if the QB plays well & the team loses to a winning team. That is not shitting the bed FYI.

Also no one is calling Dak elite. Also no one is saying Rodgers isnt elite.

So I 100% dont get this post. & the actual facts no one disputes. You opinion is what is being disputed here.
