Sticking to "the cap doesn't matter, we're looking for the 12 best skaters to win the cup in 2020"; I would have it:

10. Patrick (potentially he'd be a few higher, but based on Patrick from 2018-19)

Not playing fantasy hockey playing real hockey IMO Farabee all around > JVR right now and in the future.

I'm not playing fantasy hockey. Those 5 on 5 stats show who the Flyers are better with on the ice. It takes Shots/Chances/Goals For into account just as much as it takes Shots/Chances/Goals Against into account. You can be an offensive dynamo that creates 100 chances for every 50 you give up, or you could be a defensive wizard that creates 20 chances and only gives up 10. Both would show a "66% For" score.

But he is one of the 12 best hockey players that play forward on this team. And he is better than Farabee. By every single statistical measure that truly matters. Your absolute best stats to say otherwise is that Farabee blocks (.6 per game to JvRs .38) and hits (.32 to .27) more. If they both had JvR's games played that would be a WHOPPING 15 more hits and 3 more blocks. If you think that makes up for discrepancy in every other category, then thank the heavens you're not in charge of this team.

In reality who cares who's better the more depth that the Flyers have the better. I don't understand why anyone would complain about players like JVR it's fantastic that they can afford to play him on the third line and second PP. It's a testament to the development of the growth of the youth on this team. I may remind some that these young players were questioned in just the past season and now some don't want any veteran depth. Makes no sense to me especially as they have a legitimate shot now.
