He's a big dude who can block well. He's a good TE2 (or at least he was when he was on the Chiefs) and can net an occasionally random nice catch or touchdown grab. He's good depth and the fact he has lasted this long in the league says a lot about how weak TE is in the NFL.

His hands are very bad, can make a spectacular catch, but the consistency just ain't there. Haven't seen his contract, but the player is fine. Not a game changer, but it's a solid middle-class kind of move that helps already good rosters win.

Not sure the Bears can say that about themselves with the state of the offense, unfortunately.

Good. Hopefully that appeases the idiots on this board who wanted a TE. Moving on to more important positions: QB, OL, DE, LB, CB, K

Replaces Bradley Sowell, basically.

Not the answer at TE but will help for sure.

A solid pass catching TE is still a need.

Hey guise, we got a blocking TE, specifically to help the running game.

Now we can move on to still not having a TE1.

One would hope. Even if we get a TE1 in the draft though, that's a notoriously slow development curve.

I was kinda thinking freeagency......

Id be surprised if MT was was not our starting qb next year....If were to get a qb, I tend to think itll be to take Daniels place....

Im hoping for two olineman with our first two picks to compliment a run game and to give Trubisky some time to throw....oline,qb and te is our weakest link...And I dont like any of qbs in the fa nor the draft......

But Im sure thats not whats going to happen.......

And congrats on the KC SB win......well desrving.

Not a terrible signing, but nothing to wow over. We still need a primarily pass-catching TE.

Solid signing. Shaheen is gone and we can't count on anyone else on the roster. Burton's salary basically locks him into the roster so we have to hope he'll be healthy, but i don't think it would preclude us from taking a TE with as high as our first pick in the draft. We need depth here no matter what we do with a draft pick so it's nice to see Pace address it. He was never going to try to make a splash with a guy like Hooper or Henry when we have so much sunk into Burton already.

Yeah, I hear you. The only bad thing is I am not sure there's anyone worth going out of the way for. TE market is great if you have a great TE. Not so much if you need a TE. Hunter Henry would easily be my choice though if cost were no object, however.

For my money's worth I'd poke around Bridgewater's camp and see if he would be interested in a 2-3 audition of sorts to be a franchise QB. If he sucks, he sucks, but we got a pretty good idea MT is probably going to suck, and suck a lot; no point in hoping he Alex Smiths himself to rehabilitate his career to mediocrity.

Im not sure he will be getting top te money,he does seem to be out a few games a year, but yeah he will be getting some type of a pay raise.......

And Bridgewater, I always thought he sucked in his tenure with Minnesota and being overhyped on a perrenial playoff team as a Saint......

And the draftees coming coming out, eh......So yeah we are probably gonna be stuck with MT.....

Knows the system. That beats 3/4 of the Bears TE's. I'm ok with this pick up.

Harris is in that mold of the basketball player who became a football TE... Granted he is no Antonio Gates or Jimmy Graham, but certainly a physical specimen and a big target...
