It's not though.

What if I told you I'm green with envy that the 49ers have players like Bosa and Kittle? What if I told you I think Shanahan has done a fantastic coaching job with the 49ers? Because I do have those thoughts. However when it comes to Jimmy G. being a good QB, I can't get on board with that, because he isn't. He can be alright on a good team is the best I can do. That's not hate, that is just how I see it.
We've already established that he is one of the top rated QBs in the league. The highest winning percentage of any QB in NFL history.

This year every good player on the team except Garoppolo missed significant time. The one constant was Garoppolo and they kept right on winning.
We'll start with these:
Joe Staley
Mike McGlinchey,
Weston Richburg
Emanual Sanders
Richard Sherman
Jimmie Ward
Raheem Mostert
Matt Brieda
Tevon Coleman
George Kittle
Dee Ford
Kwon Alexander

kyle juszczyk
Jackuaski Tartt
Ahkello Witherspoon

Everyone a significant starter

49ers injuries aren’t near as bad in 2019 as we may think

njuries, injuries, injuries. If there’s anything we’ve come to expect with the San Francisco 49ers, it’s that they have terrible luck with injuries. There’s a silver lining though: in 2019, they hover around the middle of the league as the 13th-most IR designations per Sportrac with their 16 designations.

It’s not ideal, but it could be a lot worse. In 2018, they were tied for second with 24. You were just waiting on when someone would get injured. Jerick McKinnon tearing his ACL on the final practice before the season got going was a sign of things to come. Then came the IR list longer than some fantasy novels. At the end of the season, the 49ers were playing backups of backups, especially in the safety positions.

Injuries are always a problem for teams in the NFL, but 2019 was much kinder then 2018 when it came to injuries for the 49ers. That played a part in the 49ers doing better 2019 and it's disingenuous to claim otherwise.[/QUOTE]
Yes. We saw how bad the team was in 2018 without Garoppolo. He is critical to their success.

Shanny coached very well but JG still had to make plays. I won't write him off as a bust until I see more.

Just to be clear, I'm not calling him a bust, I'm saying he's a averaged skilled QB. It's stuff like this that get me going

End of year QB rankings

1. Mahommes - KC
2. Wilson - SEA
3. Brees - NO
4. Rodgers - GB
5. Watson - HOU
6. Jimmy G - SF
7. Tannehill - TEN
8. Brady - NE
9. Jackson - BAL
10. Ryan - ATL
11. Allen - BUF
12. Prescott - DAL
13. Wentz - PHI
14. Stafford - DET
15. Cousins -MIN
16. Brissett - IND
17. Lock - DEN

Or:

Jimmy G. or Shanahan... Who should shoulder more of the blame?

I'm not carried away. I can't remember exactly where I ranked him in one of the other threads, but it was something like 8-10.

Guess basically I object to folks claiming Jimmy is special in any way. He's meh, adequate, OK certainly not special.

What's critical is Jimmy stepping up and coming through in moments like in the Super Bowl when he let his team down. Shanahan isn't going to continue with the training wheels much longer. Jimmy going have to stay up on that bike by himself going forward. Lets see how that goes.

The guy has started just 26 games, not even two seasons, you rolling out these stats like he has some hall of fame resume. He has a lot more to prove in this league besides dating washed up pron stars and staying healthy. You bragging on his postseason, like he won them the Super Bowl. I see a guy that started 3 postseason games, two of them conveniently at home this past season and threw more picks than touchdowns.

Jimmy G playoff stats:

Think the back up QB could have improved on those stats. 142 yards per game, 2 TDs 3 Interceptions 75.9 QBR.

Montalban " he's one of the highest rated QBs in the league" :pound:

I don't think Gropp did bad in his first full healthy season. He had some really good games and games he struggled especially in the 4th Q. He's not top 10 so let's see what changes he makes next season if he progresses, stays same or regresses.
Where was his really good games, the saints, yep. Both cards games. yep. and...........

only derek carr has a lower air yards number, when u dig into his numbers, they arent what they appear.

its like groundhog day in here, 49'ers fan gets owned, he ignores things, comes back with flawed arguments, arguments proven wrong. Continues to rapid fire replies, and say things like "calm down", "non sense", while he rips his replies out

so what, hes not a rookie, he sat with the best coach , and qb ever and learned...........this narrative that he needs more time is absurd. Rookies come in and play, they are expected to perform. Guys who sit a year, are then supposed to go. Hes going to be 29 and has been in the league for 6 years.

If someone signs bridgewater, are they gonna say "he needs time to learn", no hes gonna be expected to perform.

Player X had:
a 65.1% completion percentage
30 td's
8.2 Y/a
and had 1k more passing yards

must be a top qb

Player Y had:
9.6 y/a
a 70.3% completion percentage
only 5 less td's than jimmy, and played 4 less games

Again , elite

Player z had
8.6 y/a
19 td's in a mere 8 games
64% completions
only 1400 less yards than jimmy in 6 LESS games.......

all must be top 5
@Montalban you conveniently ignored this post, are these guys elite?

I'm saying he needs to prove something, decent success in basically two years doesn't make him elite. No matter how many phony stats he comes up with

Some say it's best to sit and learn for a bit then become the starter with all the info gain by watching, in this case the goat and best head coach in the history of the NFL being the teachers. Yet Jimmy supporters fall back on he's raw, no experience. All this after being in the NFL for 6 years with the best of the best to learn from. He's pushing 30 and one fan pointed out like the one exception of a 30 year old breaking out , in Steve Young like it's no big deal that the clock is ticking on his career and his head coach still has the training wheels on him.

I mean trying to tell us Jimmy G who played in less than two seasons really has a better winning percentage than Tom Brady, Staubach, Manning, et cetera is really a stupid argument

To be fair and open I am going to admit Jimmy G has been exceptional at a key part of the 49er offense.

Still wrong. Your fruitless attempts to save whatever small amount of credibility you think you have is quite humorous.

Well, considering who said that is stupid, should you be surprised?
