The combined record of 4 of UMn's final 7 opponents is 13-34. 20-40 if you add in Wisconsin who we already beat once quite easily. That includes a road game to IU, so we might not go 5-0 vs this group of 5 teams, but it's definitely possible. Leaving only home games vs Iowa and Maryland I believe?

So Minnesota could very well start winning. 5-2 is well within reach to finish out, 6-1 maybe even, or even 7-0 could be possible if Willis keeps playing like he did vs Wisconsin and if one other player can step up just a little bit even? But they could literally finish out 3-4, too. I'd bet against that, but it's possible.

Better get that road record going

You talking b-ball? Sorry we’ve been flipping with the resident Minny homer.

If I could get just a few of the better b-ball players every year from Chicago and state of Illinois in general I’d have a top 20 team every single year.

Yeah basketball.

Izzo has had several top Chicago guys with 3 year heavy MSU leans, and then not even be in their top 3 final schools. Several of those guys have never even played at the school they signed with, after ncaa violations were found. Plenty more played elsewhere, and you have to assume some of them were just not caught.

I'm just saying don't plan on getting top guys from Chicago unless you're paying big money. And if you are paying big money, you had better hope the FBI stopped their investigations, because that will be more than just a fine or couple game suspension.

At least our Women's teams are having good seasons. #2 and #4 ranked or #1 and #3 depending on which poll you use.

Yeah, not sure why they dropped UMn for losing the #1 ranked team in the country. Took em to overtime in the first game, on the road.

This should be a VERY interesting NCAA tourney this year on the women's side of things. Been awhile since anything beyond 2-4 teams had a chance. There are literally 4 WCHA teams this year that COULD beat anyone on any given day.

You realize they have moved all the way up to #18 in the PWR, right?

No we are 21 after the MSU debacle on Saturday.

Even if they were 18 that still basically requires a miracle with only 4 games left before the big 10 tourney. If you dont win the auto bid you have to be at least 13th to feel safe.

Gophs are going to have to sweep ND and Penn State. The latter would be a miracle itself consider for whatever reason we suck against Penn State.

Ok, they dropped, but USCHO.com lists them as tied for 19th. Just because they are listed as the 21st name on the list doesn't mean they are in 21st place. They are in 19th.

A sweep of Notre Dame switches that matchup in our favor.

A sweep of Penn St could switch that matchup in our favor?

Then it would help to avoid ND in the conf playoffs. We'd want to play and beat Michigan St and/or PSU, so we could switch those matchups if they are not switched by then.

There are 3 teams ahead of us because of RPI alone, so if we keep winning and any of those teams lose, we could switch those matchups, and there are 2 ahead of us who have just one game advantages in common opponents I'm thinking? And RPI. So put together 3 or 4 wins going into the Conf playoffs, and we could switch one or two of those matchups as well.

Then we'd probably have to at least get to the Title game in the Conf tourney, if we lose any of those 4 last reg season games. If we win all 4, then, well, I guess I don't know?

So if you think going 4-0, or 5-0, or 6-0 is a miracle, then maybe we need a miracle. I don't know that it would quite be a miracle as no team in the B1G has proven themselves to be incredible or unbeatable. Our losing that game to MSU hurt, for sure. And yeah, we don't seem to play well against PSU, but maybe that just needs to change? Why not now? We started the winning streak with a sweep of OSU, didn't we? We've been scoring a lot of goals, meaning our goalie doesn't have to be perfect?

I'd just be happy looking forward to next year as the bulk of the top player are Sophs and Frosh, but I just don't ever trust that any of the good player will come back anymore. So I hope we don't need to wait.

And tbh, I think we could win the Autobid. So maybe I shouldn't worry so much about whether we go 4-0 to finish or not?

Yeah i consider it a miracle because @ND and @PSU are the toughest possible series we could have. Michigan would hopefully be a sweep at home but you never know. Its a very steep hill. They have been playing much better(just recently won 6 in a row) but barring winning the B1G tourney I think its too little too late.

Next year they should be really damn good tho. Too much young talent coming back to not be good. This program needs to get back to being elite and hopefully it starts next year.

I think auto bid is our best shot. Play well enough in the final 6 and we may end up with a bye as well.

Gonna need at least 4-2 tho. Maybe even 5-1. Havent looked at the schedules. Its a cluster.

Oh, we have 6 games left? I thought you said 4?

If we still have to play Michigan, well, that is the only team we can get away with losing one game to. If we get the split vs Michigan and sweep PSU and/or ND, we would only gain ground in the PWR. I mean I'd prefer the sweep of Michigan of course, but IF we have to lose one game, I hope it's to Michigan, as we have the 1-0-1 advantage right now, so 2-1-1 is still going in our favor.

And that is good, 6 more games instead of 4. More room for us to win and move up, and other teams to lose and drop.

Do I need to make fun of Brad Davison some more to get things back on track in this thread?

I forgot, the Conf Title is UMn's to lose. We have 6 games left and 31 pts, PSU has 33 pts but only 4 games left. MSU has 31 pts and 6 games left, so if we got 6-0, worst we can do is finish tied for 1st with MSU, but MSU would have to go 6-0, too.

Damn, it's dawning on me, that loss to MSU was HUGE. We'd be all alone in 1st right now had we won that game. :(
