We Are Decent
Depressed Penn State Fan
Oh no....please come back Dantonio....we'll miss you....I'm crying so much....really I am.
Michigan State has one of the largest athletic department boosters in the nation, Peter Secchia. He and his foundation have donated many millions to MSU over the years. Bob and Julie Skandalaris also just donated $10m a few years ago for athletic facilities enhancements. Those are two major parties I found in a quick Google search.Does MSU have boosters? I'm not aware of the MSU booster game being that influential.
But maybe those guys are also buddy buddy with Dantonio? I suspect Dantonio has a lot of power with them as well since he's the best coach MSU has ever had.Michigan State has one of the largest athletic department boosters in the nation, Peter Secchia. Why would they keep shelling out millions for a shit football team though? What's in it for them? Dantonio isn't a politician, he's only an associate in the athletic department now.But maybe those guys are also buddy buddy with Dantonio? Why didn't they force any changes the last 3 years? Why would they keep shelling out millions for a shit football team though? What's in it for them? Dantonio isn't a politician, he's only an associate in the athletic department now.
Pretty big difference between standing behind your greatest coach ever who has shown the ability to rebound from a bad year and supporting an assistant coach with no HC experience if he not only doesn't show improvement, but gets worse. They have no loyalty to the guy, and it isn't like things with the football program are hunky-dory right now other than being down for the last two years. This is a program that has become accustomed to winning recently, so they know what's possible there. They won't stand for a losing football program for long. Why didn't they force any changes the last 3 years?
Well, it sure looks like Dantonio may have done that on purpose. Wait until all the coaching moves around the country were done and settled. Leave the day before signing day. Give the temp position to a guy who's been there a while in Tressel. I could absolutely see MSU just giving it to Tressel and pissing off the entire fanbase.
How long until Saban hires his former assistant as a consultant?
Neither Iowa, nor Wisconsin, has needed Top 20 recruiting classes to end up in the Top 20. Now we see that Fleck and Minnesota doesn't need that, either.
Iowa's best recruiting class since 2012 has been #39, well, until 2020, they are #33 so far. But from 2012 to 2016 they only once cracked the Top 55. Their last 3 classes in contrast have ALL cracked the Top 41
Wisco's best recruiting class since 2012 has been #29, in 2019, well, until 2020, they are #25 so far. They seemed to average over 35, until recently, of course.
And Minnesota? They averaged over 60 from 2012 to 2015. Then they averaged 47 from 2016 to 2019. They are #35 so far for 2020.
Nebraska averaged 30 from 2012 to 2016. They averaged 24 from 2016 to 2018. They were #18 in 2019. They are #33 so far in 2020.
So ALL FOUR of the Top West teams' recruiting has slowly progressed and gotten better over the last 9-10 seasons. Look out East, her we come!!!
Fuck that guy. I’m glad his career fizzled our and was never heard from again after he left.I remember when Nick Saban left Michigan State.
I liked him and that program.
No MSU coach has had above a .600 record since the 70's, of the last 9 MSU coaches only two have had above .600 records. I'm looking forward to sub .600 MSU again.I remember when Nick Saban left Michigan State.

All that shows in their CFP appearances and wins....
There is a reason Ohio State dominates the B1G, and it's not because they are beloved all around the country.

And both of those successful coaches, were stained with the Minny influence, first Biggie Munn did his thing, then his replacement inple required different things

So you don't think ALL FOUR of those schools having increasingly better and better rated recruiting classes won't end up showing in the on field results, eventually?
