Yeah, he's done a good job. That, or...

Hellebuyck is a big part of it, but credit where it's due. I wouldn't have thought that Hasek and Brodeur's love child could save that blueline.

Every human is entitled to their own decisions etc but has any player in this league fucked over a team as hard as Buff appears to have fucked Winnipeg? I feel like there are five realistic ways he could’ve handled this better than he appears to have and both a) not looked like a huge jackass and b) not fucked his teammates and club over.

This is allowed with no penalty whatsoever??

Just looked at CapFriendly and he is listed as "Suspended without pay" and his cap hit of 7.6m does not apply.

Oh, hellllll no.

Starts to wonder if Flames can get out of Lucic's contract by claiming his Scheuermann's disease is causing him to suffer intolerable pain.

/As well as causing him to suck at playing hockey

thats been his status (and the jets cap status) since they suspended him. They couldnt really “fill” that space with comparable dollar contracts because buff was liable to wake up one morning and say he wanted to play again and end up screwing the jets more than he already has

Let me append the above and mention that in the replies to the seravelli tweet someone posted a season preview snet podcast with friedman from sept in which he says “word on the street” was buff told the jets at the end of last season that he wanted to retire and the team told him to wait on that decision ... so if thats the case ... thats the hand chevy played (waiting it out and trying to convince buff to come back) and he lost :noidea:

If that is the case, then the Jets should get no relief and his 7.5 should count this year and next.

The point of a salary cap is to hold teams accountable for the contracts they give out. When you give a bad one, you should be punished.

Then yeah, he fucked himself out of cap space for an entire season in which his blue line lost its two biggest pieces. That shit would totally be on him.

It’s different when the player is deciding to not take the money. That rarely happens (and yet has happened twice this season lol).

Yeah, but if he was talked out of retiring by the team they shouldn't be able to get away with it.

If he would have retired at last seasons end, the remaining cap hit would have gone away though.

Would it? I thought teams still had cap hit when players retire with term left.

Loungo situation and the complete fucking Shea Weber can give Nashville come to mind.

And if all of this is over an Ankle Injury, why not LTIR the guy?
