2003 home game vs Michigan. Gophers were up by something like 3 scores. I was at a bar that gave out 2 for 1s for every Gopher TD and so I got so drunk that I didn't realize that Michigan had made a historic comeback to win the game until the next day. First person who said something to me about it I called them full of sh1t. Minnesota would have tied for the Big Ten Title and would have won the tiebreaker had they won that game. Eventually was the beginning of the end of Glen Mason's career.

How would you have had the tie-breakers over Ohio State? We both would've been 6-2 in the conference and we still would've been ranked higher in the polls.

I believe in 2003, the rule was still in place that the team with the longest time since going to the Rose Bowl got the nob when there was a tie? Maybe not? I might be thinking of 1999 when a missed fg cost us the Rose Bowl?

2008 when Bama came to Athens and beat the shit out of the preseason number 1 Bulldogs in a blackout game.

Final score was only 41-30, but Bama was up 31-0 before we UGA fans knew what was happening.

The Florida game that year was also the most lopsided loss I can remember, but after the Bama beatdown, the vinegar was already out of us.

Just one year prior, Mark Richt beat Bama in Tuscaloosa and beat Florida, and came awfully close to playing for a natty. We returned pretty much all the difference makers for 2008, and we thought we would build on that 2007 season, but we got put in our place real quick.

Then we had the dark years of 09-2011 to follow.

Probably the 72 Orange Bowl loss to Nebraska 38-6. The CFPCG loss to Clemson last year is a candidate as well.

That was Bryant's fault, the game was that bad. Granted both Nebraska and OU which humbled Auburn earlier
that same day in the Sugar Bowl were far superior, but Bryant changed your entire offense for the OB.

The entire year Bama had been a wishbone team and they come out and play the I vs NU. I've always
believed he sent a message to his own team that we aren't good enough doing what we've done all
year to beat Nebraska.

The game wasn't as close as the score would indicate.

Probably the Iowa beat down back in 2010.

Kept us out of a BCS game because they let a cheating Ohio State in over us because they have a bigger name.

Bet I know Michigans....

Is Nebraska’s in 2018 when UM went up by 50 and started pulling players from the band to play before Nebraska broke 100 yards offense?!?:pound:

Poor Scott Frost.

I already addressed Nebraska. What you say means nothing. You wanna know something that Nebraska has never done?

Nebraska has never been a top 5 team and lost to a then FCS team and drop out of the rankings completely the next week. ESPN has released a bunch of new shows given the 150 year anniversary. One of those new shows was The Greatest: Upsets - where they describe in good enough detail when Michigan was the laughing stock of the college football world.

Matter of fact, since FBS/FCS has become a thing, I don't think Nebraska has EVER lost to an FCS opponent. I could be wrong, but I can't think of one.

2008 @ TTU cost us so much. if only Colt didn’t hike the ball with :22 on the play clock on 2nd and Goal... or if Blake Gideon caught a ball that gingerly floated into his bird’s nest... or if he whose name will not be spoken didn’t make that spectacular play on the right sideline.
we’d prolly have another natty.

Dishonorable mentions:
UCLA 66-3
Kansas. Dude. Kansas.
2001 CCG . Chrissy four turnovers in one half Simms BA Colorado, a team we thumped earlier in the year. Cost us a Natty berth

You still would have needed to beat the SEC champs.

Sure, you might have won the BigXII, but then the NCG would have been your "worst, most memorable, humbling defeat".
