With change comes expectations, it's what we do as fans and followers of the game. I know that it's really too early to accurately predict, but now, with all of the changes, what else should we do with the optimism that was absent just a few short days ago?

Good poll, the question looks familiar. :D

The expectation for any hire has to be a Super Bowl victory. There are no consolation prizes.

That being said, he has to bring annual improvement, accountability, and discipline because in victory, we find joy.

Pretty much sums up how I feel. Its time to set expectations and manage to them. There is no reason why this team cannot start winning almost immediately and within a few years, vying for a championship. It's not like the NFCE is some bastion of strength. We could win this division next year with the young talent we have on defense alone.

I would be happy seeing a an 8-8 team next year with improvement on that the following year. We have a young QB that is/needs to grow. I think there is more talent on the team than has been shown and I look forward to the new coaching staff getting that out of the players.

I think the current players need to learn the difference between an ouchie and an injury. It seems to me that way to many players miss time especially in the defensive backfield.

I am looking forward to watching Rivera build this team and he wants to keep or let go of.

Although I agree with gk that any/every hire should be with a SB victory in mind I also think back to song lyrics from a few years ago when considering the possibility of a Dan Snyder owned team winning a SB .... as the lyrics say "When the moon is in the Seventh House And Jupiter aligns with Mars" is what it is going to take for one of his teams to win the SB.

RR said it would take 3-5 years to change the culture here in DC . i will start from there as a basis for any expectations

my standard formulas has always been , yr one see what you have and what you need . for instance DH could end up showing he is a bust . if that were to happen then RR is in the qb market and it will set back any rebuild . some of the players you have wont fit the new system . it could take time to teach our young lbs their new positions . i dont see ryan anderson being athletic enough to be an OLB . SDH and holcomb were ILBS and foster is still recovery and he hasnt played a traditional MLB

sims and tmac along with harmon could struggle in year 2 once the league gets tape on them

year 2 is getting the players you want and having them gel by year 3 or 4 we should start competing

the NFC east is in fact weak but just because we win it doesnt mean we are close to competing against real teams

jay grudens teams moved up from trash to be around a 500 team before the disaster . it never took the jump to regular playoff contender

we are a couple of years away from that

so my expectations are based on that model . it might be year 3 before we see any results from RR. also understand that brucifer is gone and that is great but our FO is far from set and after the draft it could be gone which would be another set back

Good post dad. I tend to stay away from 5 year plans because teams change so much in 5 years. Established players will be gone. Ironman, Scherff, Collins, Foster and Allen will be in their 30s.

My point is that means a lot of new players in 3-5 years or a veteran lineup.

Still possible but I think the team will look very different and maybe that is a good thing.

Certainly would have to win at least one playoff game.

If Snyder lets him do his job without interference the Redskins could be a contender.
