Uh, Tacoma is nothing like Seattle homie
Seattle leans further left than Tacoma. A lot of King Country residents are moving to Tacoma and making the longer commute to work just to get away from the Seattle cesspool. In what way?
And yet, they still pull in quality classes. Nothing you just said proves your point. Their academic restrictions do not cause them to have to suffer on the recruiting trail. They pull in top 20 classes despite not being a very strong football program historically for the most part.
Again, none of this is stopping them from getting top 20 classes for almost an entire decade. That is a quality class, and they are doing it. Their academic restrictions are not hindering them, unless you're going to try and tell me that without these supposed restrictions, Stanford would be getting top 5 classes every single year for some reason. They have had a few decent classes because they were the flavor of the month for a few years. That has nothing to do with how different it is for them to put a class together. You keep ignoring that when 4-5 star players come out of high schools that are college preps Stanford can't take most of them because they don't qualify academically even if they really want to go there. The players they go after usually have Notre Dame and Northwestern after them. I know it's hard for you to imagine ( saying no to a 4-5 star) being a Ohio State fan but that's the case.

LOL
The "LA lifestyle" is hollow and pathetic. It isn't about what you can afford, it's about spending your money smartly. Why the hell would anyone in their right mind want to blow their money on a 500 sq ft coat closet in LA because "ohh pretty beaches"? There is a reason people are leaving CA. It's a remarkably overpriced shithole.

Who are these supposed 4-5* kids that are so desperate to go to Stanford but can't get in? Also, this "they're going after Notre Dame and Northwestern" recruits is bullshit. They've taken plenty of recruits from many other big-time schools.
You keep following this narrative with no evidence to support it whatsoever.
That's great, good for you and your son. There's still nothing whatsoever that would get me to move there.Yeah we are stupid to have sunshine and 74 degree weather most days of the year and either the beach ( 20min from my house) or snow boarding (2hours away) in the winter. We play basketball / soccer/ baseball outside year round. My son lives 10 min from La Jolla beach ( how horrible) and is snowboarding this weekend and have softball after work tomorrow where I'm in shorts and a long sleave t shirt.
If what you're saying is true it should be cheap for me to move closer to the beach (since its a shit hole here) say Laguna Beach. But people with money and options like it there which makes it expensive.
If what you're saying was true then people with options wouldn't want to live here. I have a rental I bought 15 years ago and my current house and yes I could sell them and live pretty much anywhere (maybe not Hawaii.lol). But fuck the humidity of Florida, and the cold of the middle states ,fuck the crazy ass weather in texas even though I do like Austin and Arizona is fucking hot in the summer. So if I cashed in I'd probably buy a property in a farming town in San Diego county and a condo closer to the beach. But thats just crazy me.lol
Nope, I'm saying they don't want to go there. Stanford, despite having little football history and nothing else to really make it an amazing draw, has had top 20 classes for the most part for this decade. That's incredible. They are not being held back by any academic restrictions. In fact, I'd say they are highly surpassing the norm for recruiting success for such a program.lol. So you think most or all 4-5 star players can get into Stanford? Is that what you're saying? Because that's the only thing that would make your statement true.
I have two Stanford grads on my softball team. One had to stop playing on the baseball team because it interfered with his clinical lab research. The other works for JPL. That's the kind of students they get.
The problem with California is that it's populated by Californians. That's great, good for you and your son. There's still nothing whatsoever that would get me to move there.

Screw all of you guys. This is Paradise.

Me walking into a thread on the CFB board about cost of living.

I lived in Los Angeles until 1968 when I moved to Washington State. I Ioved California, but my wife had family in Washington so we moved. There will always be a special place in my heart for California. I can see if someone never lived in California, they would have doubts about the state.Yeah we are stupid to have sunshine and 74 degree weather most days of the year and either the beach ( 20min from my house) or snow boarding (2hours away) in the winter. Tacoma. I moved up to Washington State from California in 1968 and lived in Black Diamond until 1989, then Tacoma.Where in Washington do you live?
Listen, you aren't getting it - I know Stanford has high standards. I am saying it is not holding them back. Clearly they are getting good players and have been for a decade. This is a fact. They are not being hamstrung on the football field because of academic restrictions. This is also a fact. This isn't an argument about Stanford being a tough school to get into, it's about their football team getting quality classes, which they are. As I said before, the academic side is, if anything, a positive for them. If they weren't so great academically, their football program would be nothing. There isn't anything else pulling kids in there.A Stanford degree is the prize for a lot of parents. But not as many can get in . So they have less to pick from. I don't know how simpler I could make it. If it was as easy to get into Stanford as Miami (just using them) they would have great classes every year. Well ,until those players can't graduate.lol
At USC it's well known that the players who can't get in end up at the Arizona schools. And USC gets players who have trouble getting into Stanford and Notre Dame. We have a freshman RB Stepp who's a beast and who wanted to go to ND. Reggie Bush was seriously considering Notre dame but his parents didn't like the houses there.lol
