Mendez has no options left so either we put him in the pen or trade him or release him. Hernandez has options so I figure he will be at AAA. I would expect Jurado to also be part of a trade package

If we are trading for anything worth much, I doubt they would want Jurado in return. Would you?

Back in September the Star Telegram ran a story about Mendez. Here is an excerpt:

He was granted a fourth option after last season, which allowed the Rangers to keep him on the 40-man roster through the off-season. They will learn this off-season if he is burned his option.

The Rangers believe he did not.

A player uses his option once he spends 20 days in the minors, not including days on rehab assignments. Mendez spent only 10 days this season on optional assignment, so he should have an option again in 2020.

I guess it would depend on the team but personally I wouldn't. Both he and Mendez will probably be cut sometime between now and ST

Didn't know that but it doesn't change my opinion both he and Jurado will not make beyond now and the opening of ST. They are expendable

I don't think I can recall the last time we had the kind of AAA rotation that we will probably have in 2020. I think the AA rotation will be high quality too.

I personally would hope so. I think we do need one more piece as a starter. But not a Miller or Oswalt type pickup.

It has been a while hasn't it. We really had depleted our minors back in the run for the title so it has taken some time to rebuild it.

I personally would hope so. I think we do need one more piece as a starter. But not a Miller or Oswalt type pickup.

I lean that way as well, but I kind of looked forward to one spot being given to one of them. They have all showed promise. If the first one faltered, there would be two more to put in in their place. Maybe a fourth if Hearn gets back on track.

Of course, as it stands now, one of them will start up here.

Could be. depends on if we sign any relievers or go rule 5 for anyone

Been thinking that if we land Rendon, this could be seen as one of the best off-seasons this year.

Wonder if Beltre is included in negotiation. May have been in original presentation. Certainly think MY is involved

Some think it will come down to us or the Phillies. We cannot let them out bid us. They have to battle us and the luxury tax. That should work to our advantage.
