The NFL has the best playoff system in American sports. It is fine. Don't fuck with it.
The NBA has the best playoff format. The NFL's playoff format needs to be fucked with.

Step 1: stop blatantly favoring New England.

I’m done.

To each their own.
Of course, crack pots have their right to express them selves and sane folks have the right to discredit them. Just another day of silliness where some try to make out they know how to improve on the greatest sport in existent because they are blessed and "special". Just a other day in being a sports fan.

Crazy for sure... In 2011 the Seahawks won their division at 7-9 and ended up hosting and beating the 13-3 NO Saints in the first round of the playoffs... That's when "Beast Quake" happened...

I love the NFL but i dont really see a downside in taking homefield away from division winners i guess. Now if you talk about not giving them a playoff spot id take issue

It’s the typical view of not understanding that making winning the division a big deal is a big deal and needs to have the consequence of dropping down in seeding to keep the intensity high. You all basically want those division showdowns to be no big deal by giving the losers a soft landing spot. Wake up! You want those division showdown to matter? You need to have consequences that actually matter.:L

The Cowboys could potentially go 8-8 and still win the division and host a playoff game.

What is wrong with this playoff system?

I wish they would simply get rid of divisions and let the top teams play each other and the bottom teams play each other.

At the end of the season, the top 6 teams get in the playoffs. None of this division crap where a crap team like the Cowboys get to host a playoff game.

happens every year so go piss off

This is why they need to reward the division winners, not penalize them, so you're correct.

It happens every few years that one or a couple division winners are weak, but that's why they have to play the highest seeded wild card. The system is correct, some people just need to correct their thinking.

You give the second place team a soft landing it’s just not nearly the big deal to win the division. Fact! The current set up is excellent. Let’s not fix something that’s not broke. The current set up makes for high drama because what’s at stake. Watering it down isn’t a good idea at all.

Im fine either way. Just makes for better playoffs when ths better teams advance imo. You xan argue it both ways but if you really want to make the division important you wouldnt have multiple WCs and be talking about adding more.

It's pathetic right? Can you imagine going 11-5 or even 12-4 and then being rewarded by playing Washington on their home field?
If they didn't make changes the year the 7-9 Seahawks hosted, and beat, the 11-5 Saints (beastquake anyone?), there is nothing that can go down that would.

They want the fight to win your division to be literally everything.

You play 14 common opponents during the season... with your division. It's the only measure they care about. A 9-7 team could simply be in a division with 3 solid teams while a 12-4 came through a crap division with 6 free wins.

That wildcards are there at all is a bonus. Don't want to travel to a shit stain div winner? Win your fucking division.

100%. I was fine with it when a 7-9 Seattle was hosting New Orleans a few years back.
It brought us BeastQuake.

Saints were 11-5. They were 13-3 the year before when they won the SB. Their defense was garbage though and they were very over rated. Beastquake is what everyone remembers but Hassleback had a huge game.

There's nothing wrong with the system. You want to open at home in the playoffs then win the division.
