What I'll never understand is, how can you NOT win your Regional Championship, and then somehow expect a chance to win a National Championship?

So if you beat 4-5 ranked teams during the season and slip up against a 7 win team who lost 4-5 GAMES during the season. That 7 win team goes to the playoff and is one of the best 4 teams in the nation...I just don't like that logic but tbh I don't like when a non conf champion makes it. Still don't think it is the most important factor.

It's why we need a super conference, it will solve everything and be a lot of fun.

I can honestly see the very rise and fall of college football in my lifetime. At its Pinnaccle in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s, it could be doomed to fail in the 20's and 30s.

Step 1: Win your conference
Step 2: Those assigned the task, decide the best 4 teams of the conference champs

Every year we have 2 to 3 teams that separate themselves (ALWAYS conference champs by the way). And then the dolts of "We need more teams" create some stupidasso argument about some 5th or 6th team to add for some shittard reason.

That isn't getting the best four teams in though, just bc you win one game doesn't mean you are a top 4 team. I understand you said pick from those conference champs but it's not always that simple. Not sure why this is hard for people to comprehend.

Exactly...always funny to me when some think the results AFTER the CFP games prove whether their choices BEFORE the games were justified or not.

MSU went in 2015 and were spanked by Bama. Pretty sure OSU either wins that year or keeps it far closer. But MSU earned the right to go.

since I never claimed I am sure what should happen how can I really be wrong in this discussion? I've only said I PREFER 8 teams make it. How can that be wrong?

I said if they keep it at 4, that's fine, I only WISH they would come up with a way to make us more aware of their rules for selecting the 4.

I agree this is a bit of an issue, but seems you just want to complain. Best team gets in by record, you complain. Team with lesser record earns title by winning CCG you complain.

Guess they could do what B12 does and just have top 2 play.....but I suspect if they did and say one team won after losing the first game they played you'd complain.

Yes, let’s just go back to the preBCS days and not have championships decided on the field.

I want 14 team conferences to drop divisions, have 3 permanent rivals, the other ten teams remaining are put into two pools of 5 that rotate every year so every player will play every team at least twice and play at every team’s stadium in conference. You take the top two teams and have them play in the conference championship game. Let the committee decide who the top 4 teams are. We don’t need to cheapen the college season and we sure as hell don’t need to drop the conference championship games because we are afraid of having teams play because we need to give more teams participation trophies.

Look at Bama and Auburn this year. Bama drew South Carolina and Tennessee. Auburn drew Georgia and Florida. Not even close. And it is hard to blame either one of them since they didn't have any choice in matter.

I see no way to equalize conference or non conference scheduling. While the Big 12 plays a true round robin, it really isn't totally equalized because of the order and timing in some instances.
