Won’t work. Then players would just grab their ankle or something else. Basically you’d have to change the rules if you take a play off for injury you’d have to sit out multiple plays or sit out the series.

I believe this is what the thread is advocating.

Yeah I guess. But I don’t think it’s right to punish players who really do get a little dinged up because of players who think it’s a soccer game.

Get rid of half the distant penalties...........penalize back to the 1 yard and extent first down marker. Also, how do they actually determine where to place the ball on punts out of bounds? Come up with something better.

You're veering dangerously close to the "full retard" category.

Why should they?

Maximize the penalty. Take another example. Offense is backed up on its five yard and commits a personal foul. Instead of a 2.5 yard penalty......back to the 1 and extend first down marker 11 yards.

College football will just be a video game in 20 years where everyone shows up to the stadium to watch some nerds on headsets play the game looking up at the video scoreboard.

Imagine being the coach under that scenario.

Trigonometry

We can all understand your confusion.

They also need a rule that either puts time back on clock or gives offense an untimed down so defense just can't get away with holding and PI. Also, if leading team commits a penalty, the clock starts on snap.

this. If they truly care about player safety, then intentional defensive pass interference should never be beneficial. It’s dangerous, and the defense shouldn’t be rewarded for it.

It's possible that the refs messed it up. Here's what the NCAA rulebook has to say about it:

Unfair Clock Tactics
ARTICLE 3.
The referee has broad authority in the timing of the game. He shall order the game clock or play clock started or stopped whenever either team conserves or consumes playing time by tactics obviously unfair. This includes starting the game clock on the snap if the foul is by the team ahead in the score. If the game clock is stopped to complete a penalty for a foul by the team ahead in the score (or either team if the score is tied) inside the last two minutes of a half, it will start on the snap, at the option of the offended team. The game clock will start on the ready-for-play signal after Team A throws an illegal forward or backward pass to conserve time (Rule 3-3-2-e-14) (A.R. 3-4-3-I-V).

If you’re up 9 with a minute to go, you can commit 17 pass interferences and time will never be added to the clock. Even if the clock stops, the clock runs during the play and you win the game.

I like the idea of the under 2 minutes if the defense commits a penalty then the offense should get an untimed down. Otherwise, you’re incentivized to put people in danger.

Referees have the discretion to award points in that situation.
