Eh, I don't think they cared about "shutting him up", rather just didn't want to deal with the attention he'd bring.

I think it was stupid how much people overreacted, but he also knew he'd face backlash, and decided to still do it.

Overall, I just feel indifferent towards the whole situation.

One in the same...

So again it was clear from the outset it was not about the military you just want to make it about the military. He was well within his rite to do what he did. You don't have to like it, I don't have to like it, I support his freedom as an American to do it. If you don't like that okay, I really don't care how you feel about it. You take that freedom away from people and you and others start singing a different tune.
Did he have a right to use the NFLs platform to Express his thoughts?

But that should not be to the point where you take away a man's livelihood. Which is what I feel owners did. To me this wreaks of the spoiled and wealthy shitting on the lesser privileged for trying to make a stand. Sure Kaep made some money but nothing like these owners have, and the people he was making a stand for sure aren't a voice that would be heard. So rather then listen they just shut him up. Makes the point IMO that owners don't want to hear about the injustice because they are safe and secure and their golden cocoons.
So the League and the team owners don't have rights?

Yes.

If there is no policy that states he cannot, then yes. And there is no NFL policy that states he must stand.

Doesn't matter if there is policy or not, the league and owners can make policy as it goes through day to day business. Up until Kaep there wasn't an issue, so why would it have to be a policy to do so?
Your boss can make a new policy today, and if you refuse to adhere to it you could be fired.

So if he sucks, we can put all this to an end right?

No they just can't make policy where did you dream that up. You really think the players union is just going to allow the owners to randomly make up rules? Wow dude really?

Exactly.

I stated earlier I don't see him as a starting QB, well maybe Cincinnati but I think he is a very capable back up. Very least if he proves that bring him in as a back up, pay him as a back up, and if he can beat out the starter so be it. If he does not like that he needn't sign the deal, those records would be very public and put an end to all this.

He sucked his last 2 seasons in the NFL and it is still going.

Yup Blaine Gabbert was playing better than him in his last NFL season. Blaine Gabbert.

I think some people forgot how many times he turned the ball over before he lost his job. And now he's 3 years removed from the league and 32 years old.

I know at my job there are rules or regulations that govern political view, they are verbotten not sure what the NFL rules were at the time?

There is actually no rule that requires standing for the anthem. In the 2018 offseason, the NFL tried to put in a rule that required standing, but they shelved it after discussions with the NFLPA. The current NFL policy says that one "should stand" for the anthem.

How is it irrelevant? He was in fact offered a position as a QB for an NFL team. He just didn't want to take less money. And this actually came AFTER Kaepernick voluntarily opted out of the 49er contract th88at he already had in place that would have paid him $14.5M in the 2016 season. Kap figured he was worth more than that and decided to take his chances. Well, that didn't work out for him and now he wants to blame his bad decisions on some bogus charges of collusion and racism in a league where 72% of the employees are black. He just can't accept that he made a bad business decision, he thought teams would overlook his on field activism, and he just honestly wasn't that good as a QB in his last couple years. So he's looking for someone to pin the blame on other than himself. That's how I see it anyway.

That was in the 2016 offseason, when the Broncos tried to trade for Kaepernick. He was still with the Niners and he did in fact play for the Niners in the 2016-2017 season. In the 2017 offseasons, the Niners told him they were going to cut him, so he opted out to make himself a free agent earlier instead of waiting for the Niners to cut him.

I believe the kneeling started after the Broncos thing. I thought we were discussing the employeability of Kaepernick post-kneeling.

The NFL is clearly full of shit. They are only doing this to say, “Look, we gave him a chance.” That’s bullshit, why wait until he’s 3 years out the league, knowing it will be hard for him to get back in game shape. Then you will have the dumbass people say, “See, I told you he wasn’t good enough to play in the NFL.” Well duh, it would be hard for anybody to be good after being out for 3 years.

Also, the NFL knew what they were doing when they scheduled this workout on a Saturday. Why not consult with Kap’s representatives on scheduling this workout instead of telling him 5 days before that he need to show up and there is no rescheduling?

Not sure we need a workout to know teams don't see him as a starter and I doubt he'll take a 3M backup contract.
