Patriots have four kickers in camp this morning for workouts................no names yet.

Reports are leaking that Steven Gostkowski has some kind of leg injury that he didn't report to the training staff or coaching staff. I have a problem with that leak. I can't believe that someone wouldn't have checked him out when he missed three kicks in one game.

Reports are that the Patriots are making a bunch of moves and will be making changes on the 53 man roster. Richards may be the first of these "moves".

The New England Patriots are working out kickers on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

The workouts come amid struggles from kicker Stephen Gostkowski, who has missed four extra points (one in each game) this season. On field goals, Gostkowski is 7 of 8 with a miss from 48 yards.

It’s not clear which free-agent kickers the Patriots are working out, but New England is reportedly doing its due diligence on the kicker market.

Bill Belichick was asked about Gostkowski’s extra-point misses on Sunday, and while Belichick has often vocally supported the kicker during past struggles, the coach took a broader tone about team improvement.

“I think we’re all going to look back on this game and say ‘there are some things we can improve on,'” Belichick said after the game on Sunday. “Certainly I know I feel that way. We have a hard working team, I have a lot of confidence in our team. We’ll just keep working hard to do things better, and do them better next week.”

Not buying it. He’s been hitting kickoffs the best he has since before the quad injury in 2010. His injury is above his neck.
Good point, or his plant foot maybe? The action of kicking off and kicking XPs is different.

Perhaps. I have a hard time seeing a big enough difference when it would come to how a leg injury would affect only one and not the other. He’s basically just trying to do the same thing on FG/XP’s just with a little more precision and from a hold instead of a tee.

I’m open to changing my position if a kicker or exercise physiologist or something can unpack the differences logically for me. Otherwise I’m sticking with The Yips.
