So we are still favored? Why is everyone all worried then?

Despite the watered down roster, Team USA is still the most talented in the field.

I am still worried because the other top nations have a better national program and their top guys have more experience playing together in past national team competitions.

The problem with such a deep talent pool is that nobody feels obligated to compete and you get little continuity from summer to summer. That is a big advantage for a less talented, but good enough to beat USA team like Serbia.

I have been thinking about something and i think Houston is going to be pretty good with Harden and Westbrook next year...Save this post i will bump in 6 months from now!

I think they'll be a good regular season team. They have too much talent not to be.

But I think the playoffs are going to be a problem and I'll be surprised if they can get past the 2nd round. Westbrook and Harden have been too ball dominant for too long and that will show in the playoffs when they are facing better teams, imo.

OK I'm going to give you one troll-free response for you to recognize where you went way wrong here. But you only get one.

Someone just did step up and pay $4.6 billion for the Nets. If the Warriors were on the block they would get someone to step up and pay over $6 billion. It is all about revenue...and the Nets and Warriors and most other big market teams have A LOT of it.

My point was just that if the Warriors wanted to spend an extra $200 mil/yr to keep their dynasty team together, they happily would. The money is there, as evidenced by how much the franchises are worth.

You root for a small market team with much less revenue so this is hard for you to get your mind around. OKC owners don't spend extra pennies. GS ones do.
I do agree with your premise, but there are owners of smaller market teams who will spend whatever it takes to win....clearly OKC doesn't have one though.

Troll away, I don’t care. Has nothing to do with market size. You made a point that they can spend whatever they want because of franchise value, I pointed out that revenue is what drives what they spend not franchise value. Wasn’t trying to start anything, just making a point and a good one.
will to win can also drive what they spend.

Not making any money can be very deceptive.
Smart people can be very creative with salaries, expenses, etc.
No doubt about that last part. One example is if a team (or the owner) owns the cable/TV station on which their games are played they could report the team takes on little in revenue from cable/TV.

But but but Curry isn't clutch!! These numbers must be fake news.
To be fair, don't these numbers prove Curry is not clutch (if one believes in clutch)? Over the last 5 years he's around 48% total and 43% from 3 and is considerably lower in the final minute.

But still better than most others...those last second shots in close games are generally very closely defended

I suspect everyone shoots lower % in that situation for the most part

But most of "those others" don;t shoot as well as Curry at other points of the game. If he shoots far worse in the final minute you certainly cannot think Curry is clutch (again if you believe in clutch).

Is he better than others in those spots? Sure, but that's because he's a better player. Not because he's clutch.

But he shoots better than most because he's a better player than most. If you are truly inclined to believe in clutch (FTR, I don't) that would mean he is better during situations deemed to be clutch. He is much worse.

What you are valued at means nothing until someone steps up and pays that for it. I don’t see owners spending an extra penny because of what the team might be worth, it’s all about revenue.
exactly.

NBA teams prices are not based off of metrics of a typical business because of their scarcity and prestige. As someone once said- owning a sports franchise is how you are "knighted" in America. A huge premium is put on these things

A typical way to value some businesses is 10x yearly net revenue (or 20x depending on industry, etc.). None of these guys that buy teams nowadays do so because its a great investment vehicle. They do so for the prestige, the competition, the goodwill that is generated with the community that can translate to their other businesses, etc.

The Alibaba billionaire who owned half the Brooklyn Nets just bought out the remaining 51%...for $2.35 billion (valuing the Nets at over $4.6 billion)

So what does that make the marquee teams worth? Warriors gotta be around $6 billion with the new arena. They can afford plenty of luxury tax, @WiggyRuss
are you fucking moron or just play one on this website? 4.6billion?

please go back and read the article and amend your post to prove your not a dumbass

I would honestly take Tristan Thompson over Cousins this year without even half a seconds worth of hesitation

I'm fairly certain the Lakers would as well.....though to be fair I'm also sure given the choice they'd choose Whiteside as well.
