You do know his team only made the playoffs in 6 years out of 16 he was in the league, you could say 14 bc he didn't play full seasons in two of those. Only had to win 2 games to win a Championship. Also, only 14-15 teams, half what they have now. Less competition. That doesn't mean he wasn't a great QB but dwindles that resume.

His numbers are better than everyone on the list from his era, though Unitas has him on total career TDs & yards. But he didn't get to start until his 5th season because he was behind Van Brocklin. He didn't win, which is why he's not rated as highly in these things, but he led some mostly bad teams with no running games. I attended a lot of them.

I must have missed the day at football school for dummies where they taught "raw team passing yardage" as being the best metric for measuring a team or QB's passing success.
