from what I have read, the main obstacle to a Westbrook/Heat trade is the money.

The Heat are currently hard capped --- that is about 138 million. Apparently right now they are about 1M under that.

The Thunder are about 3-4 million OVER the tax line- which is important for them to get under if they trade Westbrook.

No teams out there have remaining cap room to absorb one of Miami's crappy contracts.

Going to Montana later this month....anybody ever been there?

I haven't, but let me know how it is. That's a potential retirement/move there in my 50's destination.

Jeopardy Question #5

Which SportsHoopla poster shared this with us April 6, 2019?

"especially becuase they have no cap room this year, and already have well over half of their cap room comitted for the summer of 2020....they can trade their 1st rounder this year, but cant trade it in 2020 or 2022 since they are already missing their totally unprotected 2021 pick, and unless i am mistaken they have no 2nd rounders for the next 3-4 years.

they really have not left themselves with very much flexibility to improve the team".

What do I win, Alex?

Or, Riley is trying to keep Winslow, Bam and Herro, which I believe is the case.

If it was just a matter of the 3-4 M, it would easily get done.

@WiggyRuss

You right Thunder. RW ain't trying to go to the Cavs.

I doubt that CLE would be on his top choices for destination, if Lebron was there, it might be though...I would not want CLE to trade Sexton and contracts for RW. No thanks...in this case I am glad he might not be interested in CLE.

It seems obvious he wants to go to Miami, if Butler wasn't there I'm sure Miami wouldn't be at the top of his list either.

I would be shocked if they kept all 3...the Thunder would get no assets except unpredictable future 1st's.

Dallas doesn't? They struck out in FA.

I'm thinking Winslow goes , just my guess, but no reason to cave in unless you feel there is another serious team involved that Westbrook wants to go to.

I know Cavs liked to bid against themselves with players like TT and JR, but Rileys a bit smarter.

never said he was- just said the Cavs could have him tomorrow if they really wanted him since they have exactly what OKC wants-- cap relief, picks and young guys.
No

Because OKC is trying to trade him somewhere he wants to go....

So to get a player the caliber of RW (to team up with Butler) you'd say no to Herro or Bam being included? I'm not saying both.....I get not wanting to trade 3 youngsters for him.
That's what I find silly. If they said they just don't want RW OK. But to want him, and let Herro be a guy who makes them pull out is absurd.

It's INSANE to think a player couldn't be moved to create 3-4M in space.
And, the Heat doesn't need to create the space if the players involved are what we've heard, OKC does, right?

Raptors will be the 3 seed.
Ambitious.

I say 5-8.

Did you see this?

Sounds like Mr. Low Maintenance is going the LeBron way.

The natural assumption is that Ujiri was making reference to Uncle Dennis. Robertson has a reputation for being hard to deal with and would have been hands on throughout the process. According to sources, Leonard and his camp – namely Uncle Dennis – asked for a lot from the Raptors in that meeting, things players don’t generally ask for in standard contract negotiations. In some cases, they were asking for things that Ujiri – one of the most well-compensated executives in the league – wouldn’t have even had at his disposal. Their requests were “unreasonable”, a source said, which made the Raptors wonder whether Leonard was seriously considering them at all.

It's also absurd to bid against yourself.

You guys keep talking Whiteside contract, but the Heat HAD to make a quick decision there because numerous teams had or would have offered a max.

Right now, what's the hurry?
