I hate to give up Kuzma, but for AD......

Griffin is just pushing for as much as he can get. That's also the only reason Ainge is still in the mix; prop-up competition to try to force the Lakers to overpay.

I've seen Kyrie linked to NY, Brooklyn and LA (or staying). But never out of Kyrie's mouth.

He just bought a house in Orange, was a Nets fan as a child and grew up there, is turning down his player option, and signing with JayZ's firm for representation. NYC, NYC, NYC. Could still be the Knicks, but is Durant going to hold him up for a year of recovery?

Ingram, Lonzo and 4 isn't all that strong though. It is possible nobody else offers better, but I kind of doubt that gets it done.

I am surprised there isn't more chatter about the Knicks right now. They should be aggressively in these talks given AD's wish list. Because I believe AD probably resigns in NY, but he probably does not pick them over LA next summer if he ends up in a rental team.

Move the #4 and Solomon Hill to Atlanta, Pels get #8 and #10 and enough cap space for a max contract.

don't forget these deals went down without many (any?) knowing the teams were in talks

Kyrie to Cs
CP to Houston
Blake to Detroit
PG to OKC
Harris to Philly
I seem to remember quite a bit of talk about the Cavs and C's talking Kyrie. It was still surprising when it happened but it wasn't completely out of the blue.

The rest were more surprising.

They got the chance to have Kuzma. Along with everyone else on the Lakers team not called Lebron and they declined it in February.

The pelicans don't have any leverage any more, especially since Rich Pauls statement this morning. Boston isn't going to throw any extra players in for a one year rental.

Ingram, Lonzo and the #4 pick is literally the best offer on the table right now. Don't want it? The Lakers can wait.

No, the Lakers can't wait. If they don't get AD...Lebron will not be happy. Although there are not many teams making strong offers for AD it seems the Pelicans still have leverage, unless LA pulls a 3rd team into the mix--the Pelicans will ask for what they want from the Lakers and they will get it.

I doubt ATL is giving up both 8 and 10, pick one or the other and take their mid-round pick as well

What is that leverage? That they'll hold onto AD until the deadline and get even less for him? Or are you talking the Celtics facade?

8 and 10, 8 and 17, whatever gets the deal done. I left 17 out of it because it was also an as of yet uncompleted trade.

I'm still not sure what you are seeing with that Knicks offer still...I haven't thought it was great from the start. Plus I heard Griffin said he doesn't want Knox. That leaves you will the number 3 pick and fillers---no real AS potential at least at this point. Griffin wants more than NY can offer, even if NY were to pull a 3rd team into the mix it would be difficult to offer what Griffin wants or more than LA has to offer.
Another thing to mention is if the Knicks were to get AD and KD stays in GS, Kyrie goes to Brooklyn and they strike out in FA...then you better believe AD will not be sticking around or it will be very tempting with that shit roster around him.

I think when it's all said and done LA will get AD. I was surprised it didn't happen sooner but lucky for LA Griffin is the GM now and he loves those Laker assets. I fully expect for LA to go for another big FA...BUT this won't be a Kawhi, KD, Kyrie, more like a Kemba, Jimmy.

They could wait for after the draft and teams could offer sign and trade deals...Brooklyn is one of them in DLo, not that realistic but things change and I'm sure they would get some offers for him. Plus, since the Lakers already offered Kuzma in their first package months ago the Pels know they will offer him...it's just a game both teams are playing. Who wins? We will see soon most likely.

If the Lakers were to Kuzma in the deal...it would be huge for them. HUGE. I would be very impressed.

8 and 17 just seems more likely imo

In Cleveland and not sure I know anyone here who saw that deal coming.

Tatum plus.

Tatum is the best, most attractive single asset out there.

So a deal along the lines of:
  • Tatum
  • Smart
  • Throw in player (Williams?)
  • Couple of 1sts

Including Tatum would probably give the Celtics the edge. Tatum isn't that much more attractive than Ingram, if at all, from an ability/upside perspective. But Ingram has missed a lot of games over the last 2 seasons and Tatum hasn't.

So, even if Griffin liked Ingram more than Tatum (not saying he does), I expect Griffin would have at least some concern about his ability to stay healthy.

The question for the Celtics however is...do you really want to give up Tatum and a potential long run for 1 year of AD (assuming Rich Paul's 1 year threat is real)? Especially if Kyrie leaves as it looks like he's going to.

Considering the situation the Lakers are in and that AD is a once a decade type player...I'm not sure there is such thing as an overpay.

Ingram isn’t even as good as brown. And I don’t even like brown.
