Houston has righted their ship just in time. Believe that they lead the league in walk off home runs.

the A's fell another game behind Houston yesterday. Verlander pitched a great game against Arizona.

A's are 2nd in the AL in home runs. Not bad for a team that plays half their games in Oakland.

2019 ZiPS Projections – Houston Astros

Astros rotation doesn't project to be nearly as good as last years without Keuchel and Morton gone and McCullers out for the season, but it should still be plenty good (projected for about 15 WAR). Gurriel looks to be the only weakness on the diamond and even then, they have Tyler White.

Grand Salami for Trout. He is truly making the Rangers his bitch this series.

Gallo's been a lot of fun to watch this year, but the batting average looks very fluky. His contact rate is 0.1% higher than last year (and is still a mere 61.8%, the lowest in MLB) and his swinging strike rate is still quite high (16.6%, which does mark an improvement over previous seasons). His .361 BABIP is also a good 98 points above his career normal. Even assuming regression, he should still be a very good hitter even if he bats around .220-.230.

Chapman's batting .306/.393/.621 (171 wRC+) after being one of the best players in the AL last year. He's nearly cut the strikeouts in half (from 23.7% to 12.1%) and his BABIP has actually dipped from .338 to .293 this year. He's seen a huge improvement in contact (from 78.7% last year to 85.8% right now) and swinging strikes (from 8.8% to just 5.5%). Crazy to think he can improve on last year's success, but he looks primed for an even bigger season.

Joey Gallo becomes the first player in MLB history to hit 100 homers before 100 singles. Lol

Not sure the race ever really started.

Yea, I don't think there was any reason to expect anyone to hang with Houston. I think most projections had the Astros winning by 10+ games and while the A's should still be pretty good, I don't think they're going to come close to matching last year's 97-65 mark. Rangers have been a surprise thus far but it seems like they're getting a lot of overperformers offensively plus their pitching outside of Minor/Lynn (the former having serious durability issues) has been pretty awful. Angels have plenty of holes offensively and an absolute dumpster fire of a rotation
