disappointing thing about this AL west race is next week is the final meeting between Houston and Oakland

The A's were a .500 team on June 17th.....2 months later they're 25 games over .500 and in first place.

There was some fortune early in the season (they are 26-10 in one run games), but their run differential is +74 since the beginning of June and their pythag is still 69-54. Also 21-12 in blowouts (5+ run games). They're good.

They have a good lineup, a good bullpen and a respectable if unspectacular rotation. Cahill's been really good when healthy.

A's have been one of my favorite teams to follow and this year has been no exception. Chapman is one of the best players in baseball right now. I'm glad to see Jed Lowrie's playing well too. I thought he'd be a good hitter, but he had trouble staying healthy especially with the Sox.

definitely worth keeping an eye on Laureano, he showed really good tools in the minors (.297/.380/.524 with 14 home runs and 11 SB granted it was the PCL: also hit .319/.428/.528 with 15 home runs and 43 steals between A+ and AA in 2016)
