Yea, I don't think there was any reason to expect anyone to hang with Houston. I think most projections had the Astros winning by 10+ games and while the A's should still be pretty good, I don't think they're going to come close to matching last year's 97-65 mark. Rangers have been a surprise thus far but it seems like they're getting a lot of overperformers offensively plus their pitching outside of Minor/Lynn (the former having serious durability issues) has been pretty awful. Angels have plenty of holes offensively and an absolute dumpster fire of a rotation

That Angels staff is just comical.

Not really sure what the point is in locking up Trout if you’re just gonna surround the guy with batting practice pitching.

As are obviously red hot right now. But like you said, I think they at best make a push at a WC and even that’s a stretch imo

yeah, I think there's only 7 teams in the AL with realistic playoff chances (NYY/HOU/BOS/CLE/TBR/MIN/OAK). Indians will get their shit together eventually IMO. Twins are in a good spot, even if they just play .500 from here on out that gets them to 91-71. That should give them a pretty good chance at grabbing a WC even if they don't win the division.

it's also weird as fuck seeing the Twins lead the AL in home runs

I know there’s a ton of ball left to play. But I’ll be really upset if the Twins end up in WC danger. Indians might germ Kluber and Clevinger back soon, but they need bats and I feel are also dangerously close to a fire sale.

Really is crazy to start seeing the Twins completely flip how they have been historically on offense. But i did expect it(not to be this insane) to be really dangerous this year. Just that perfect blend of Vets some of which playing to save their careers and young guys that are coming their prime type years.

The insane part if it all holds up would be the fact that Rosario/Kepler/Buxton/Polanco/Garver and to an extent Sano, all turn the corner the exact same year. That is extremely rare. And granted Rosario has already been pretty damn legit for a few years

mariners pitching is an absolute shitshow. 6.13 runs allowed per game. they could very well give up 1000 runs this year

Chapman hitting .279/.363/.552 (142 wRC+) and is 7th in MLB in WAR. He's 5th since the beginning of 2018.

Astros have 5 of the top 30 hitters in MLB per wRC+ (Bregman, Springer, Brantley, Altuve, Gurriel). And that's not including Yordan Alvarez and his 181 wRC+ (in 66 games), or Correa (140 wRC+ in 72 games). As a team, they have a 123 wRC+ which is currently the 8th highest team wRC+ of all-time.

Actually they just set the mark for most home runs in a season and still going.
Yanks hit 74 home runs in August!

Semien quietly having an amazing season.

.284/.365/.519, 135 wRC+, 38 doubles, 7 triples, 31 home runs, 117 runs scored, ranks 3rd in the AL in both WARs (behind Trout and Bregman)

I got to see him hit two home runs at Wrigley. He fell juuuust short of a 3rd home run when he flew out to the warning track to end the game. That was a fun game.

and speaking of Bregman, he's kinda good. I guess.
