I'm not a cap expert but to me for the Bucks it's simple.

They can keep Mirotic and Middleton or go after a Max guy and hope and pray he'd like to play in Milwaukee

More than a solid chance the former happens than the latter.

Not that that is a problem....they have a damn good team.

Buddy, a couple of things you are missing...

1. Mirotic wants to stay with the Bucks and the Bucks won't miss anything of their power if they let Middleton go, but only some (easy to "repair") bench depth... This is because Middleton has been moved to play SG in the Bucks roster, a position where Brogdon is more effective...

2. There is no "hope and pray" for the team that is "1st targeted destination" for FAs and players that want to be traded... "cappici"?

Famous last words.

So when the Bucks end up with Middleton and Mirotic and no max guy you will be here right?

If the Bucks will sign Middleton to a max, then be sure that Middleton gets traded after Dec. the 15th... I then would guess the "max guy" will be obtained then...

the Bucks are the complete opposite of Portland. They see they have a super star and are determined to pounce on his stardom era now and do whatever it takes to build around him.

Meanwhile Portland has one of the best guards in the league and they are content with staying pat and just letting him carry the team as it is without doing anything to help give him needed assistance. CJ and Nurk are good, CJ has proven his worth this post-season, but as the Wizards showed for years, great duo guard play does not bring you titles. You need bigs and an overall balanced roster. Portland doesn't have a 3 or 4 man, and have shown no effort in getting one.

What would you have Portland do? They are $17M over the cap for next year already. Who would you trade that will bring in this additional piece, without touching the Dame/CJ/Nurk core? The picked up Kanter after he was cut, traded for Hood, traded for Labissiere, signed Seth at a bargain price, etc.

Labissiere is fun, I sure hope Portland holds onto him. He could be a good talent in a couple years.

Seth is done after this year, so is Hood and Kanter. Those were Portland's moves to try and make this team competitive. Sorry, but those 3 aren't the pieces you should be going for. Yes they've done well, yes Portland is in the WCF, but if you are going to make moves you are making moves to try and knock off the Golden State Warriors, Kanter, Hood and Curry aren't going to be the pieces.

Cut bait with Aminu, Turner, Leonard, somehow get those guys off the books they are huge contracts and complete anchors. Big big big mistake on Olshey and working those contracts. Again, Olshey loves Aminu and I wouldn't be surprised if that get gets resigned to an enormous unnecessary contract.

But I don't know, get rid of Curry, Aminu, Leonard, Turner and somehow get just a mediocre 3 or 4 man at best. Hood has proven his worth and should stay.

I think the Bucks keep Middleton.

But I am going to laugh really hard if they lose Middleton and fail to sign anybody significant.

As I said before, last thing that is on Horst's mind is if Middleton stays or goes... Do you know how many "Bojan Bogdanovics" are waiting in the line for an opportunity to be in the Bucks roster?

I'm sorry but life is cruel for being fortunate as to be part of the best team's roster and claim that you are playing next to "The King"... Unfortunately for most, the top team doesn't have space for all!

I am quite sure there are plenty Bojan Bogdanovich's willing to play in Milwaukee.

Middleton is a lot better than Bojan. Bojan is not a difference maker. Saying the Bucks are "the number 1 free agent destination" implies they are getting a Kawhi or KD type.

Sorry... I though you know some basketball basics before you posted this nonsense that implies a complete ignorant!

Will Paul George (additionally to Bojan) do? Will Vucevic do?

Paul George is the Bucks primary target for next season... (with high chances to get him).
Yes and Mila Kunis is my primary target for tomorrow night. I think my chances are just as good!

@WiggyRuss you and I have had our battles, and you've often been referred to as a homer. But sorry to say, this guy out homers you, my friend.

The 15,000 word wall of text that we will be subjected to when Wiggy decides to prove that he is the bigger homer...

that blood is on your hands.

Snell has contributed absolutely nothing during the playoffs. He is the 13th man on the Bucks playoff roster. JR has playoff experience even if it is at the end of the bench. You do know Smith's contract is only $3.87M guaranteed, you can even stretch it over 3 years for a measly $1M per year. He adds just as much as Snell to end of the bench or more but at $10M cheaper. You are propping Snell up just like you are propping Mirotic up.

I'd add that Smith has even shown that he can produce for a team in the playoffs and finals at times.

Granted, he has also shown that he can't remember the score in a championship game...but you take the good with the bad when it comes to bench guys.:D

No... it Only means that:

2019 $3,870,000 guaranteed , fully if not waived on or before 6/30/19

reads exactly the opposite to:

2019 $3,870,000 guaranteed fully , if not waived on or before 6/30/19

because of the comma position...

Actually, it means exactly the same thing, regardless of comma position.

You aren't even worth talking to.

Let me guess, Tony Snell and Ilyasova for George so they can provide cap relief?

You would think a trade like that would happen.

There is literally not a single report anywhere that OKC is looking to trade George, who they just signed last summer, but you make it seem like he is on the block to the highest bidder because of your assumption that nobody wants to pay the luxury tax.

OKC may try to trim a little salary this summer, but it won't be George or Russ. They need to run that back one more time before making a decision to deal either of them.

The Bucks are determined to upgrade further their roster for each every season that follows...

1. This season the Bucks will surely trade Tony Snell and possibly Erzan Ilyasova too...
2. The Bucks are looking to resign all their expiring contracts, but only if they agree on "team friendly" deals... They will pay none that demands a renewal more than what Giannis annual salary is (on his current contract) ...
3. The Bucks have set the tone of what they mean as "team friendly" contracts, by resigning Bledsoe (their No.3) at a 4/70M deal... No2 gets more, all others less...
4. All players but Middleton seem to agree with that policy and want to stay with the team... If Middleton demands more, the Bucks are not willing to resign him, but are willing to "help" him the best they can as to join the organization he is after...
5. If Middleton was to leave the Bucks, his primary destination would be the Orlando Magic and then (less so) The Hawks, because he likes being "back home" close to his family (he is from the south of S. Carolina), but also because he would prefer to be with a team that (he believes) he can lead.
6. Middleton also has great relations with J. Hammond (the ex-GM of the Bucks and now of the Magic) and knows that the Magic are "keeping an eye on him" (not that they are the only ones)...
7. The Bucks started the season unable to play "3 tower on the floor" tactics, but only "3 guards of the floor"... They now start the game playing "3 towers" (with Miro at 3 and Khris at 2) and destroy their opponents because Mirotic attracts "bigs" to guard him and takes "load off" Giannis... They'll be looking to add another SF/PF this season, so that they can back up Mirotic and play "3 towers" for as long as needed.
8. The Bucks have plenty of combo guards that can play 2/3 on (Middleton, Brown, Connaughton and Snell), they can therefore rotate and turn the system to "3 guards on the floor" at anytime...
9. Most effective player for the Bucks to play at 2 is Brogdon (1/2 combo guard) because he can shoot the ball (slightly) better than Middleton, but he attacks the rim more, but (most important) he is better than Khris in "reading the game", "playmaking" and "pick and roll" the ball with Giannis.
10. The Bucks are looking to have the most effective starting roster but have 13 "active" players in their roster with 2x4=8 to back up the starting five... two 1/2 combo guards, two 2/3 combo guards, two 3/4 combo forwards and two 4/5 combo forwards...
11. Depending on the lottery outcome tonight, the Bucks will be looking to buy "picks" (as long a pick falls within a team that they can negotiate with)...
12. The Bucks know that they will be "1st targeted destination this season for FAs and players that want to be traded.
13. The Bucks most "untouchable" players are the "Bucks generatives" (i.e. The players that have only played with the Bucks for their entire up to now NBA career)... These are (in that order) Giannis, Brogdon, Brown, D.J. Wilson and Divicenzo. One of those players (but Giannis) can only be traded if and only if the trade is crucial for the team to make the next step.
14. For the Bucks locker room relationships under the leadership of Giannis (who works hard and is the one responsible for it). No player can be "a Buck" if there is suspicion that he may cause "disturbance" in the locker room...
15. Players that the Bucks are considering for this season for the starting roster or "important bench" are: AD, Jrue Holiday, Paul George, Kemba Walker, Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Godon, D. Dedmon, Marcus & Markieff Morris and Bojan Bogdanovic.
Because they need to upgrade it?

They are probably headed to the Finals. Just re-sign their own FA's and stay the course....
