This has to be the wtf of the day. Nobody was interested in that kid ... maybe due to his torn ACL but you'd think he'd have at least one offer from a P5 school other than Washington. It shows he's a 2019 grad but the next class is 2020. The date on the tweet checks out but nothing on this 247 profile of him even getting an offer from Washington.

He's a preferred walk-on so it doesn't mean much. He doesn't represent a scholarship obligation.

UW has extended offers to the following players:

Sawyer Racanelli, Hockinson, Athlete

LV Bunkley-Shelton, Junipero Serra, Wide Receiver

Princely Umanmielen, Manor, Strong-Side Defensive End

Sawyer Rancenlli is quite interesting, he's a guy that I've heard is really under the radar with recruiting services. He plays OLB and WR and when you look at his tape, he looks like he could legitimately play either one (or safety) at the next level. Not sure what position they offered him at (if they specified that).

As a junior he put up 101 catches, 1764 receiving yards, 23 receiving touchdowns, 2630 all purpose yards, 40 total touchdowns and 52 tackles. Dude really has some kind of endurance to play full time on offense, defense and special teams.

Figure we should probably discuss this here instead of the other thread.

Don't really know what to say about this aside from that it's not over until it's over. I suppose this is just the optimist in me, but this kid fucking LOVES attention. Maybe he thinks that UW and their fans will start slobbering all over him in an attempt to get him to change his mind.

You mentioned he's going to Oregon, I don't think that's guaranteed yet. If he really wants to commit to a big-time program, Oregon isn't where he should go.

@AlaskaGuy

Responding to what you said in another thread about him being a "prima donna cvnt"

I think we all saw the writing on the wall. Smalls is the type of player UW would never offer if not for the fact that he's such an elite talent. There's a reason we never had an offer extended to Gee Scott Jr.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't want him on the team, but this doesn't surprise me.

This is borderline conspiracy theory speculation, but I also wouldn't be surprised if behind the scenes UW rescinded his scholarship offer. He's not the type of person that Petersen wants on his team. Why else would he say the only West Coast teams he'd play for are Oregon and WSU?

Not going to take the high road and say "wish him the best" after his whole "Hometown Hero" bullshit. In all likelihood he knew he wasn't going to commit to UW before that and was just leveraging that for attention. He seems like a real piece of shit and I'm not just saying that because he wants to go elsewhere. Even if he committed to UW, he would likely be the hardest player on the team to root for.

His recruiting ranking has been shooting up which I'm not surprised by.

When I watched his highlights I was surprised he hadn't been ranked higher in the first place.

This time of year you have the 7 on 7 tourneys wrapping up and the scouting sites are all over them.
Vegas had the big west coast spring fling and a lot of guys came out for that so the stars will be rising on a lot of guys.

I've always been kind of skeptical by evaluating a QB in 7-on-7 drills. It's one thing if I kid can light it up without pressure in front of him, it's another when you have 4+ guys who have 50+ pounds on you coming at you to rip your head off.

That aside, I was really impressed by his highlights. He reminded me of a stronger armed Jake Browning.

I was kind of meh when I saw we signed "just" a 3* QB prospect, but his highlights really changed my mind on that.

He's a great get for the class. He's a throw back player who can play both sides of the ball all game long.
Projected to be either a Safety/OLB or WR. Many saying he could be groomed as a wideout with his size and hands.
24/7 has him rated as the 26th ATH nationally.

And we keep a local....local. Go Dawgs!!!!

Curious as to what position they're going to play him at. The Huskies are still in on some big name WRs (Jalen McMillan, Gary Bryant Jr. and Johnny Wilson) and Sawyer looks like he can play both sides of the ball well.

Prior to the Huskies signing him I had been hearing his name come up a bunch as one of the more underrated prospects in the state of Washington who will probably see his recruiting pick up a bunch.

Despite his eye popping numbers on offense, looking at his highlights he looks like he could be a better fit on the defensive side of the ball.
