Well if you are going to limit it to just those three things then you are probably right.

But rest assured that VT is like every other FBS other than the three I mentioned, FCS, and most DII programs in that they have committed serious recruiting violations to get a player in the past few years.

The only people who think their team isn't doing it are clueless.

Virginia Tech was only slightly above the SoCon level from the time they left the SoCon until they joined the Big East. How exactly did they attract the level of player they did to Blacksburg, Va to make that much of an improvement in stature as they did? Personally, I'd love to move to Blacksburg, but I'm not a young black athlete from an urban area.

Dude, I've dealt with the recruiting scene as a high school coach. When DII teams are cheating when nobody is watching everybody outside of the academies are cheating, and the only reason the academies aren't cheating is because they can't.

I was barely alive in 1991 so i'm not all that familiar with VT's recruiting practices back then but i am pretty sure they weren't knocking out top-5 recruiting classes. They also had the best head coach in their history at the helm coaching and less than a decade later they lucked out getting probably the most athletic quarterback in a generation. I doubt VT has been 100% lilly white in recent history, but i do not believe they have had a consistent history of egregious cheating in the Beamer and post-Beamer era. (VT was on probation when Beamer took the job after Bill Dooley though if I remember correctly)

Agreed, maybe those in the PNW need to get out more and try to connect with those outside their whitewashed demographic. Shameful display of racism by Petersen, Southern California High Schools should boycott in protest.
