if LeBron James walks away i say its smart ---

when you are supposed to be this high level all star you are supposed to know better and let the goons do their work-

This is why the Cavs got guys like Perkins and Dahntay Jones-

because LeBron was not stupid enough to get him ejected and being drawn into a fight with a nobody like Jared Dudley

But Jimmy Butler isn't their LeBron. That is Embiid.

And among the 5 who were on the court at the time, he is the tough guy best equipped to do the dirty work because you don't want Embiid in there and Redick sure as hell isn't going to do it.

Terrible comparison.

4th scoring option? Or 4th best player. I think he's neither but where is he the 4th option to you?

I think he is 2nd scoring option and 2nd or 3rd best player.

I was simply following a comment someone else made

a fair point, but I think we know Butler can create his own shot better than Harris, and he's a better scorer than Simmons.

He's the 2nd best shot creator on the team. But that often isn't what the team is look for.

Most times they want JJ and Harris at the perimeter waiting for open looks. Sometimes they want Simmons driving to the hoop to shoot/dish.

Of course, sometimes they want Butler to take control.

That was the whole reason to have all these guys.

You are getting ridiculous now. A play where Embiid doesn't even touch the shooter has now become dirty because of a camera angle. Those tears are damn salty.

You don't lead with your foot while contesting a 3 unless you're trying to do something dirty.

Do you see other players contesting shots by leading with their foot. That's not a normal basketball play.

But keep acting like Embiid is some angel.

His track record proves he is one of the dirtiest in the league

So he was looking to jab his foot into the shooter but missed? That's your argument?

I don't care that you think he is the dirtiest player in the league. But using that example as evidence is just ridiculous.

Man i hope Embiid try this stuff vs Toronto because Ibaka don't play that. He would legit get into a fist fight with Embiid if needed

So he missed? The shooter was taking a spot up jump shot. He didn't get out of the way.

Show me all the clips of players defending a 3 ball by leading with their left or right foot.

I'll patiently wait.

I honestly think Embiid was just trying to be silly to get the shooter to miss but if the shooter jumps into his kick Embiid would've been looking at a suspension

Suspension and would have been ejected. Would have been called a flagrant for sure

Dinwiddie was so upset about the play that he didn't even notice Embiid.

100% if Dinwiddie decided to randomly jump laterally and caught Embiid's foot, Embiid would have received a flagrant 2.

It would also be one of the dumbest shot attempts I ever saw in my life. Dinwiddie is already gathered and rising when Embiid jumps.

I don't know about you but I usually don't try to pull people into me when I'm scuffling with them. Secondly even as Simmons is being pushed into him he has his hands up.

They ended up chest to chest and Dudley was falling. I doubt he was looking to see where Simmons hands were.

I agree that it wasn't a normal basketball play, but I also don't think there was an intent to hurt. He clearly jumped past the shooter, not at him.

I think it was more of an attempt to distract. Embiid couldn't get to him to really contest the shot, so he did what he did to try to distract him. I look at it as similar to a guy yelling "Hey" or "Miss it" or claping his hands when a guy is shooting and can't get to the shot to contest it.

Alright.

It isn't a basketball play. You are right about that.

But he was not trying to kick the shooter. That is ridiculous. If he had connected he would have been suspended for at least 2 games. Maybe more.

What that play reminds me off is the old fake nut tap in a street ball game.

You know, the jumpshooter is going up so the defender acts like he is going to hit him in the nuts or take his legs out. Sometimes the shooter changes his follow through out of reflex to protect himself.

So while I do think it is a dirty play to do that, let's not pretend Embiid was trying to actually kick the shooter.

It is more than that because leading with the foot is an attempt to intimidate the shooter, IMO.

But he wasn't ever going to kick him, which is why the move doesn't work in an NBA game.

Sometimes on the street you aren't so confident. Dude might actually be trying to injure you. It works a lot better there, but be ready to fight if you are going to try it.
