President Donald Trump is threatening to send detained immigrants to “sanctuary cities” across America, and many mayors have the same response: We’ll take 'em.

You mean the american values currently on display in California? Lets take a look that State and see how the illegal immigration (who, in general support themselves as per your mantra):

California is now filled with immigrants, approximately ten million, and the majority of them are illegal. Guess which state has the highest poverty rate in the country? Not Mississippi, New Mexico or West Virginia. It’s California – where nearly one out of five residents are living in poverty according to the U.S. Census Bureau. While California accounts for 12 percent of America’s population, it accounts for one-third of America’s welfare checks. California leads the country in food stamp use and has more people on welfare than most countries around the world.

Homelessness is exploding in California with tent encampments overrunning schools, businesses and neighborhoods and is now home to 22 percent of this nation’s homeless population. California leads the nation in debt while the total state and local debt exceeds $1.5 trillion. When you combine California’s share of federal debt it produces a debt-to-GDP ratio of 153 percent which is higher than the European Union Countries of Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain, which are all now facing economic collapse and ruin.

The vehicle traffic conditions in California is suffocating, miserable and unlivable. The highways and infrastructure are crumbling and the public schools are an unmitigated disaster and has the highest per-pupil spending in America. The income taxes, business taxes, sales taxes and gasoline taxes are the highest in the nation. This is all a result of the enormous costs of illegal immigration.

It seems as though immigration isn’t always so grand and isn’t always a strength. Clearly, immigration in the wrong form does not lead to prosperity. California has now become almost unlivable as a majority of the middle class are fleeing in record numbers to places like Las Vegas. California offers a cautionary tale to the rest of the United States of what happens when you combine open borders and a pathetic welfare state.
Almost 40 percent of the current California population don’t even speak English and has now become a foreign state inside of America. It is now following the Mexican model, a population with a small sliver of super rich elites and everyone else dirt poor. The middle class has become extinct and the state is on an express train to hell. California has become a hellhole because of illegal immigration along with the diversity that it has created, all thanks to the many politicians who are totally responsible for these declining conditions.

So, Shark, when you say that we are afraid of the culture that these immigrants bring, you are right. But it has nothing to do with skin color. It has to do the becoming a country that is on a path to a welfare state, just a California. New York is not far behind. How is this a good thing?

The reality is that the immigration coming from the south Western border is a huge drain on our country, they do not support themselves, the Government has to step in. For which you and I pay dearly. So how much less a quality of life are you willing to accept to just let everyone in?

Dude, thats all great information. But I tend to look at this in a historical as well as an expectational kind of view point.

Some Americans have been railing against migration from south of the border for well over 100 years now. And for mostly the wrong reasons. Now we are in a situation where you have millions of people in small spaces (CA, NY and a few other sanctuary cities) partly because these are the only places they feel even partly welcome and SAFE.

So my question is, if you have fostered a system where these people dont feel safe or even wanted in some parts of the country, you dont then get to scream see I told you this was bad for the country.

At the end of the day this is more about a broken system that some seem to want to turn into a money problem because it fits into what they actually want on a social level.

First quit picking on West Virginia. I am spending 30% of my time and that amount is increasing.

Immigrants go to large cities for many reasons and I am not buying it is because they are afraid of folks in Kansas and Wisconsin. They go for jobs, they go there because there are others who they identify with etc. etc.

Why am I not in West Virginia full time? Ummm, I need to earn a wage …. not the easiest thing to do in WV. Many of the people I know there leave Almost Heaven during the week to work in MD, PA or VA.

Sorry, I don't think most are against immigration. I know I am not. I am for doing it by the law. We are not the only country that has laws regarding who and how you can come into a country.
