The full schedule will be released in the 18th. This is my favorite part of the off season because the schedule is the single most definite thing about the pending season we get in the off season.

What I’m expecting:

- the Broncos won’t open at home in 2019.
- the Broncos won’t host MNF, but they’ll be featured. They likely will host a SNF game and of course every team plays a TNF game.
- the Broncos will still be featured in prime time at least 3 times, maybe 4.

What I’m hoping for:

- home team for TNF.
- bye week no earlier than week 8.
- week 1 @ Kansas City
- at least 3 home games by week 5

My rationale for these is the home team generally has a pronounced advantage on TNF. I realize the Broncos biggest win last year came as a road team on TNF and the year prior they outplayed a woeful Colts team on the road on TNF. Still I prefer to be at home for that short week.

The early bye weeks suck. I wish the league would take a serious look at the scheduling and make some changes to how they schedule bye weeks and subsequent games. I wouldn’t be too much harder (and a fuck load more equitable) if they adjusted scheduling so that teams coming off bye weeks only play other teams coming off bye weeks. I still get frustrated and likely will never forgive the league for scheduling the Broncos in 2009 to play teams coming off bye weeks in 4 straight games.

I’d like to see the Broncos get a traditionally tough game out of the way early. Plus in week 1 all bets are off. I’d give the Broncos a much better shot of going into Arrowhead and swiping a win in week 1 than at a later date in the season. The Chiefs off season has been a disaster but they still have the draft and remain the favorites to win the division. An early season upset in a place you can usually pencil in a loss would be a great way to start for this new staff/team.

While I want the Broncos to start on the road, I still want a good dose of home games front loaded. Preferably against the Raiders and Chargers. The Broncos typically have a stellar record at home early in the season. I’d like to see the league make our biggest rivals face that environment early. Something like this:

Week 1: @ Chiefs
Week 2: vs Chargers
Week 4: vs Raiders
Week 7: vs Chargers
Week 10: vs Chiefs (Broncos coming off bye)
Week 17: @ Raiders

I seriously doubt the league is going to take my preference into consideration but this seams reasonable. Especially after the league scheduled the Broncos in 2016 for prime time games against their AFC west rivals all on the road!

While you still have to play the games little nuances in the schedule can really break in your favor. Or make things tough. Teams will never complain about the schedule and they shouldn’t. But this stuff is fair game to the fans.

I’m looking forward to seeing this year’s schedule even more than seeing who the team drafts.

I'm hoping for a road opener we are due. I expect KC at home early. I think Den Bears could be primetime. I expect KC/Den on primetime. We'll go to Buffalo in Dec.We'll have majority of road games mid Nov/Dec.

No thanks on loading up divisional rivals early. A few yes, but don’t wanna play 6 division rival games off the bat if a few key players happen to be out.

I’d like to see them play half their divisional schedule early. Like I said: get that tough roadie to KC out of the way and then some home wins against the other two. I think the Chargers are inconsistent enough the Broncos have a good shot at least of splitting with them again. As for the Raiders I think the Broncos are improved enough we can’t and shouldn’t rule out a sweep. That leaves the Chiefs. The Broncos are riding a 7 game losing streak against them. If they can swipe an early season win and then hold serve at home it would be a great way to reverse fortunes against them.

All this thought is highly speculative and probably over thinking the nuances of the schedule.

That’s what happens when it’s April.

I don't mind going on the road early in the season. That means we get more home games coming down the stretch. I expect this team to hover around .500 and having those home games later in the season is a bigger advantage for us than other teams, imo. The cold and the thin air are tough for other teams to deal with.

And IKF is absolutely crazy for being more interested in this than the draft.

Haha well my rationale is simple: draft selections may or may not have an impact this year. The schedule absolutely will. Can’t get around it.

But taking a longer view, if you have bad drafts like three years in a row ** 2013-2015** then you find yourself overpaying to FAs to fill in big gaps. Let's hope this is a back to back good year of a good draft.

If that’s the schedule I’d say it is a pretty favorable arrangement of opponents. I’m a huge fan of getting an AFC West opponent on the road for week 1. Was hoping for the Chiefs but I like our chances of sweeping the raiders if this is legit.

True enough, and I definitely believe the long term plan is important. With that said there is so much that changes year to year in this league. Some draft picks pan out, others don’t. Some contribute and move on when they become free agents.

At the end of the day I don’t care where the players come from. I care about competing. The Broncos has some bad drafts those years but also had 2 Super Bowls in that span. Which do you think are more definitive of 2013-2015? Drafts? Or Super Bowl runs?

I see why drafting well is important and do value the process but at the end of the day I’m not going to look at 2018 and remember how good the draft was. I’m going to remember 6-10. Unless some of these guys become major contributors on a multi year run that leads to another super bowl, and even then the 2018 draft itself will only be a second tier part of the picture.

Only thing I don't like is 4 out of 5 games on the road after the bye but at least we're home right before the bye so it'll be 2 weeks at home before 2 on the road.

Why do we always play at KC after at Denver? Never fails. Irritates me.

Maybe because the last time they did it @KC first the Broncos won the super bowl!
