It's nice to not know who will be in the Finals in advance for the first time in many years
I do think many wrote off the Cavs before the playoffs last year. I thought they'd get to the Finals but was far from a lock. GS a lock last year and this one I think.

A few did but there were plenty around here who wouldn't count the Cavs out no matter what. Myself included.

Warriors are much less of a lock this year than ever before.

It's amazing how much you boast about fucking Cedi Osman, who will simply be at best a solid starter on a team. Because his stats are similar to Bam Adebayo's if you look at it per 36 minutes:

Cedi Osman Stats | Basketball-Reference.com

Bam Adebayo Stats | Basketball-Reference.com

And with Bam, I'm willing to accept that he'll likely be in the same role as his ceiling - solid starter, not future all-star. That's why I don't take anything Cavs fans say seriously about Dan Gilbert.

Again, if Lebron wasn't from Cleveland, Lebron doesn't even go back. It's clear why he went back - legacy move. It just happened to actually work out.
Also helped he believed Gilbert would spend and wasn's so sure Arison would. But agree if not from Cleveland he doesn't come back.

I think Cedi's peak is probably somewhere along the lines of Mike Dunleavy Jr.

Nothing about him screams franchise potential. Possibly decent player under the right circumstances.

Dunleavy was mainly a shooter, he did have a peak where he was very good player but it didn't last long maybe two to three years. A starter for most of his career. I see a lot more athleticism from Osman than I ever saw with Dunleavy but this is essentially is rookie year. I don't expect him to being an all-star or all nba team. He could be a very good shooter, a starter and 4th or 5th really good option for a playoff team but he is a guy that can beat you off the dribble and hit the mid-range and drive, more so than Dunleavy. Dunleavy didn't have much of that. Once he bulks up some I think he can be a very good defender as well, I have seen flashes of his defense and he is a versatile defender as well that comes with the athleticism though imo he just needs time/more playing time.

My comparison would be: Hedo Turkoglu

Made it to a conference finals. Melo also isn't anywhere near the same category as Lebron.

In terms of clearing cap room, and trading for draft assets, anyone can do that.

If you want to boast about how well you are as an organization, look how the Spurs are run, or the Rockets, Warriors (since new ownership), Thunder, etc... Those are teams that are consistently ran.

I've never seen a fanbase that has such a shitty team, boast about how well they're ran.
5 Finals' trips, 1 title and you boast about a team who has never been to the Finals nor made the playoffs in more than half a decade.

Agree Houston and GS are also very well run. OKC? Maybe, but think Gilbert let's harden get away because he didn't want to pay him?

Not sure why those teams being well run means the Cavs should not get their due, though.

it would surprise me to see anyone say the Cavs have done a poor job of management this season considering they acquired 2 1st rounders and 6 second rounders and have done a very nice job developing Osman and Sexton.

For a team that lost LeBron and had been mortgaging future assets like water the last 4 years- for them to be in the shape they are currently in is pretty good in my estimation. Certainly light years ahead of where they were last time in year 1 post-LeBron.
lol so bottom feeder is pretty good in your estimation? The flip side is the can only go up from where they are.

I wouldn't count them out because they had Lebron.

Agree GS less of a lock but I'd take them over the field.

Well you can't count those 5 Finals trips nor the 1 title if the debate is about the team WITHOUT LBJ.

They do monthly on here?

Yeah they have splits on mostly everything. You can take a look at on/off splits. Splits for home and away games. By month or year and individually against teams. It's insane the amount of data out there.

Well, let's see....Lebron was here when Gilbert got there so hard to say what he did without him.

And we have already gone over the 4 years after he left and how they were run successfully enough to get him back.

Maybe when Lebron told Gilbert he was coming back, Gilbert should have said, "Ya know what? That sounds great but I'm worried there might be some irrational fans in a sports forum in a half decade so I'd rather see what we can do without you.......but best of luck in all your endeavors."

Pretty much the only site I use to find player stats.

But it sure seemed like he'd be moved to C. Never mind I doubt anyone would have taken Drummond at 4, where they picked.

Most draft scouts had TT listed as a PF. Cleveland played him as a PF often, if not more often than they played him as a C really until 2016.

TT was not an excuse to pass on Drummond, because when Drummond was drafted most teams, including Cleveland still played guys like TT at PF.

I will give you Kyrie as an excuse to pass on Lillard. That one is legit. Because at the time the league wasn't playing positionless basketball.

This is fair, but most mocks I saw also had TT going ahead of Drummond. Hindsight? sure, Drummond.

Fultz says hi, but he has time.

And, sure, Brown stole money from teams for an extra 7 seasons. Good for him I guess.

Fultz is on a Bennett like track for sure.

But he at least proved he could be an NBA rotation player at the end of his rookie year, even without the shot.

Bennett wasn't that.

And Kwame was a rotation player. A mediocre one, but unfair to say he stole money for 7 years.
