Gonna throw this out to the board.....see what the response will be. Probably get some smart ones and some troll ones also.

With the 43 million we have available this summer.....do we even need another star(s)?

Maybe a few players like Redick and Jordan......gives us shooting, rebounding, and defense. Redick could score 16-17ppg and Jordan can chip in with 12-13ppg in addition to his rebounding and defense. Plus the kids will be a year older and continue to mature.

This season was a lost one due to the massive injuries we suffered. So is a star even needed or just fill some holes and hope for better health?

It depends. I don't think that using the cap space to just sign guys like Redick and Jordan is really the answer. That would make them better and a solid playoff team, but it's not getting them to the finals, imo.

Your idea could work IF the young guys make big strides in the off-season. I don't mean just regular/natural improvement, I mean "leaps and bounds" type improvement.

The problem with depending on the young guys is that we still don't really know what the Lakers have with them. When they got Lebron, they may not have gone immediately into "win now mode", but they definitely went into "win sooner rather than later mode".

Ingram was finally starting to look like he was worthy of his draft status when he developed the blood clot. If he can keep playing like he was before the clot and the clot is a one time thing (which it looks to be since it was structural), that would help.

Ball is a bit trickier. He is a very good defender with elite vision and passing skills who can't shoot and is injury prone. According to reports, he will be healed up enough by the start of the off-season so that he'll be able to work on the things he needs to for a lot longer than he could last off-season...but until he shows that he can shoot, he can't. And until he shows that he can through a season healthy, he can't.

Kuzma looks really good on the offensive end of the floor and looking to improve his assists is only going to help, but he needs a lot of work on defense.

That seems like an awful lot to have to count on/hope for when you're trying to contend.

No fan worth their salt really wants better draft positioning.....if it happens? It happens but to actively want it? Nah, no normal fan roots for that.

Inclined to disagree,

Sixers-Bucks this afternoon. It will be a big road win for my Sixers and to put themselves as real contenders in the east.

Go Bucks

Nothing personal just don't want the Pistons to play the Sixers

So anyone else gonna be grubbing down of corned beef & cabbage today? Got some Irish soda bread too.

Corned beef, cabbage and red potatoes are in the crock pot. Traditional Irish soda bread is already made (I even got Irish butter to go with it) and Irish Bread Pudding is in the oven as we speak. Will be making a caramel whiskey sauce to pour over it just before serving.

Nah....I'm sure the Browns would be much better off having gone 4-12 in 2016 and not gotten their QB for the next decade. Indy fans probably wish they did the same a while back and could still be looking for their QB.

Klutch (see what I did there) loss by the Lakers. Had me worried for a bit.

So glad CJ season isn't over after his injury last night.

Yeah, hadn't thought of it that way. I'd hate for the Lakers to be able improve their trade package for AD by having a lottery pick to throw in.

Or even worse, to miraculously get the #1 pick and be stuck with that Zion kid who doesn't even know how to tie his damn shoes.

Very, very disappointed with Lebron right now.

After the game today, a reporter says:

"Zion Williamson is the most talked about player coming into the draft since you. Do you have any advice for the Duke star?"

Lebron said: "Yeah, I have a lot of advice for him and I'm n ot hard to find if he wants to hear it."

I really wanted him to say "Yeah, sign with Klutch."

Yeah, Redick and Jordan might only get us to a 4-5 seed. Maybe even only the 6 seed.

Beal and Jordan would be nice but I really like Vucevic, he's a more traditional center nowadays and would help with the outside shooting.

Vucevic and Beal. I've been saying this ever since @Mecca and I talked about it awhile back.

Gonna speak it into existence.

Sounds great. Don't have all the fixings you have. Have some Irish soda bread though. My corned beef's cooking on the stove top as we speak. Already put the red potatoes & carrots in. Getting ready to add the cabbage.

Hope the kid calls someone else, though, if he wants to know how to lead when he has more experience in the league.

Yessir

You don't necessarily need another Superstar.

The right 2 Allstars will work just fine.

will be the 7th straight season the Los Angeles LAkers fail to win a playoff game

Some of the most pertinent parts of that article in my opinion:

1. "The Lakers then spent the next week scouring the league for the best players willing to sign one-year contracts — thereby preserving salary-cap flexibility for the summer of 2019 and their planned pursuit of an All-Star sidekick for James.

The problem: Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka, the Lakers’ nascent front-office power duo, signed a slew of nonshooters and, shall we say, mercurial personalities who, as a group, prompted instant second-guessing."

2. "Rich Paul, LeBron’s agent and longtime friend, became Davis’s agent in September and was widely perceived to have made the trade request on Davis’s behalf to get him to Los Angeles. A seemingly ceaseless stream of leaked Lakers offers thereafter irreparably fractured the locker room, no matter how hard Paul pushed back against that narrative.

Nor can the team fully move on from the trade drama, because everyone knows the front office will be back on the phones with New Orleans soon, trying to beat out the Boston Celtics’ package for Davis once the Pelicans start fielding offers for him anew."

3. These Lakers were never a lock to reach the playoffs in the loaded West, but the overwhelming majority of league observers and Las Vegas oddsmakers — who largely pegged them as a 48-win team — figured LeBron would find a way. He has instead absorbed criticism for spotty leadership and intermittent engagement with his new teamas he prepares for life as a playoff spectator for the first time since his second N.B.A. season (2004-5).

I don't know they do it, but agree those are a couple great fits to play with LBJ.
Yep.

Both guys would know, and accept, their roles.

I'd be very weary of Butler and Cousins.
