I didn’t see it except for the highlights. I had presumed that it was one of those half-court shots where everyone took a turn and shot until they made it. But then, after watching it, that was pretty cool. I think it would’ve been cooler if the three-point shooter had made it on his first shot, too, but Tatum got it in first.

This isn't the Shooting Stars, which had the halfcourt shot. That was discontinued in 2016, unfortunately.

Yeah, it was an impromptu halftcourt shot in the Skills Challenge, because Tatum was behind timewise, so he wanted to do something to get a shot up, before Trae Young had 2 attempts.

I don’t. I either want him to rest or work on his shot.

Some of this is rationalization for not making the team, but Mitchell did say that he preferred to not participate this year because last year it took some wind out of his sales or something.

I am sure he is better suited because he’s older and used to a routine so that he would not have a rookie wall this year, but if it helps him have the rest, I’m happy for it.

Would you be ok if Mitchell did the Skills challenge?

That shouldn't take any extra energy. You can't really practice for it, other than the 2 - 3 mins right before the event starts.

And it's all things like dribbling, passing, shooting. Things someone does everyday.

I would be OK with whatever he wants to do except for the Olympics because that is a big commitment. Although, part of resting is not having to fly to the city that is hosting. But then again, I don’t mean physical rest necessarily. It would still be a break.
