They underachieved because they didn't come home with the trophy.

Shut everyone down? The only reason they were in the super bowl was because your dumbass CB made the most egregious noncall in football history.

Enjoy falling back down to Earth next year
:L Are you still crying about one non-call in the Rams/Saints game? Watch the repay of that game and you will see that there were several non-calls on both teams.

I think the Rams biggest concern is cap space seems like Suh will be gone, they will have to figure out what terms they can agree on with Goff and after that performance you really question how much he is worth and that he isn't just a guy McVay seem better than what he actually is with his scheme and offensive weapons. Then there are other guys like Talib that will be gone, Dante Fowler, who knows how much Marcus Peters will want.

These up coming years will test McVays ability to draft because he did get handed a team with a pro bowl RB and traded and signed pro bowl players on 1 year deals

Cap problem is overrated, if you cut Barron and Brockers frees up almost 20 million, to go with 30 already there. Now you have some good flexibility with those two moves, Goff will be in a prove it year next year before any extension

Sounds reasonable, but why criticize Goff for one bad game? I remember Russell Wilson having several bad games and he is a special QB.

Russell Wilson did not have several bad games before winning his super bowl ring. At the end of the day its coming down to this Goffs agent is aiming to try and make him the highest paid QB in the league when the time comes which is normal for QBs in this situation.

You may think Brockers and Barron mean nothing to Rams but you will see a difference when you cut them, pay someone like Marcus Peters to keep him and see how the 5th and 6th round picks or undrafted replacements play in their place

Maybe, but that is what player agents are suppose to do, get you the most money. Yes Russell Wilson had several bad games before he made it to the SB. Nevertheless I'm in no way trying to compare Goff to Wilson. Goff a bad SB there is no way around it, but he is only 24 years old, let's see what happens next season.

Seemed like you brought up Russell Wilson to compare him since you put his name out there when we were talking about goff. There is one of 3 scenarios that will play out next season. 1. Goff has another season like the one he just had in which his agent will ask for him to be the highest paid QB in the league. 2. He has an awful year so bad he gets benched in which he will be released and you guys will be without a QB. 3. He has an average year and the Rams have an average W-L record, eliminated either in the wild card or 1st round in which you might keep him and be forced to win with an average QB

I'm not so sure the Falcons had a huge drop off. Still had double digit wins in 17 and won a road play-off game before losing to the eventual champs. 4-2 in arguably, the most competitive division in the league. Two really piss poor performances in early October vs. the Bills and Dolphins that season cost them a possible 12 win season.
This season was a down one but they were riddled with injuries and had no running game at all really. And the defense was not good. Can't blame that on the SB hangover.
Hey wait just a minute.
I thought the Dolphins and Bills were automatic wins every year?
Oh I guess that only works when NE haters want to use it for an arguement.:nono:

I think McVay was simply outcoached. He is a smart guy, and I think he'll learn from this, he'll be back. I think it could be as simple as not having a running game in the Super Bowl. Figure out what went wrong with Gurley and fix it or move on from him. I think the problem can be as simple as that.
Defense was fine, establish the run and that opens up possibilities for Goff. Pats new they were basically passing every down. You telegraph your every move to Belichick, your done.
Don't let it get into your head. Move on .
That was the NE scheme. Shut down the run and force Goff into making quick decisions.
McVay needs to either get the 15 second communication limit changed or he has to taking the training wheels off of Goff. Otherwise you're likely to see a repeat of the Rams offensive performance.
We shall see if Goff has "it" or not?

Just the fact that we are in everyone’s head is great. It’s a young team so who knows but my guess is we are the favorite to win the division again.

So supposedly the Rams will get worse, because Cooper Kupp won't be back, oh yeah, he will be, ouch. I guess the Rans young players won't improve nor will the Rams not make any moves to improve the team
There are only so many balls to go around. Talent on both sides of the ball wasn't the problem.
Execution, expirience and desire were.

I don't think McVay will let the Rams get down on themselves. He did a really smart thing saying that he was outcoached and will take full responsibility and not allow it to fall on the team. When they get together for OTAs and mini camp, I expect him to establish that the Super Bowl is over and the goal is to get back to it and take the trophy home.

I think McVay started working on 2019 with his staff on the flight back to LA

Lol. No desire yet TB had no TDs in a super bowl. You nailed the experience part on offense yes

This guy gets it. His team just went through this. They feared better than most predicted.
Can the Rams? Time will tell.
The way it looks now the Rams have a one year window remaining before they price themselves out of competition. Sure they could get lucky and hit on a couple gems during the draft. But wishing isn't a good strategy.
If they don't resign Goff who will likely get $15-25M+ depending how he looks this season. They will need to pay someone thru FA or trade. I don't see them developing a new QB from this years draft who'll be ready to take over come 2020.
Maybe I'm wrong and boy genius with his last second play calling could groom him in a season as a back up:noidea:

can't take this thread seriously when the OP puts bacon and eggs as an option and not potato salad

and besides Stan's stadium should be finished by 2020 he needs wins to fill the seats not loses

The desire comment came from Gurley's comments of not caring if he got the ball or not.
Goff just looked out of it.
Cooks has never had the desire to fight for the ball.
Both highly rated lines pretty much got smacked around all game.
Sorry I just didn't see much desire as a team.
I did see and hear Donald with the fire in his belly:thumb:
Just my observations.
I've said over the years I put a lot of stock in team chemistry. Which takes into account leadership, attitude and commraderie. I think it plays a bigger role then lots of people give credit for.
