Its a pretty damn good core 4. Its no Curry, Klay, Durant, Dray... but it beats any other top-4 out there.
I'm not sure it doesn't match up. Totally different players, but if all 8 were put in a draft I think it could go Durant, Embid, Curry, Butler, Harris, Simmons, Klay, Green

seems like the Burks for Knight, 1st rounder with Houston is getting close for the Cavs.

Gotta say---- trading Korver (who got them Burks), Hill, Hood, and getting back 6 2nd rounders and 2 first rounders--- and taking back no bad money that goes past next year is a nice little way to start a rebuild if you ask me.

And next year they will have some nice expiring assets in Knight, Clarkson, and Henson to move for more assets.

At least the Cavs know how to rebuild a franchise and are doing it similarly to how they did it last time.

6 2nd rounders and 2 first rounders is a nice haul if they can complete this Houston deal.

Not bad, even if those first rounders are almost 2nd rounders (especially Houston's). However, are you expecting to build a team with late 1sts and a bucket of 2nd rounders? It won't look much different than their current roster.

Come on man, 2nd rounders are kind of worthless

Sorry, gotta disagree there.

Durant, Curry, Embiid, Simmons/Klay, Butler, Green, Harris

Butler/Green is a tough call, given the attitudes of both. Simmons/Klay could flip as well IMO (given Simmons' allergy to jumpers).

not in todays NBA as we are seeing

it seems the going price for a pretty good rental is 2 2nd rounders. they kind of operate as grease on trades too- to kind of even things up

they of course are not anything close to major assets thats for sure- and the probability of getting a real player is low- but if you take enough swings you are gonna get a hit at some point

Problem is, finding a taker for his $10M contract next year without taking on salary beyond this season.

It's not really a problem if the organization wants to pay the luxury tax, which they've already said isn't a problem. In that case he just rides the bench.

I wouldn't go that order. I would go:

KD, Steph, Embiid, Butler, Klay, Simmons, Harris.....Green if I have to

I wouldnt mind if the Cavs did that and got Fultz for some expirings. I would imagine they could make that work.

Cavs are gonna have a BOATLOAD of expirings next season, its gonna be crazy.

Clarkson, TT, Henson, Delly, probably Knight if this Houston deal gets done.

I am telling you- the Cavs seemed to have set this up where they tank this year, and probably next year, and after that start the process of going back up.

Id imagine year 3 will be tough as well while the young guys continue to develop and they go from "asset acquisition mode" to actually finding the pieces and parts that fit, but they are laying a nice foundation.

Admittedly, I only went with talent and took attitude out of the equation.

I could see Curry over Embid, but Curry can only shoot (and, yes, a great one). Embid can score, rebound, defend, and can even hit 3s.

I think you are looking too much into warrior Green. Might be perfect for that team, but on most teams Butler and Harris can do so much more than him IMO.

i mean, if thats all they are worth why are the Lakers so hesitant to give up a bunch of those late first rounders and 2nd rounders for a guy like Davis?

draft picks are becoming more valuable in the league and are essential to get trades done when you are ready to compete.

I think this is reasonable. I only have Harris ahead of Simmons and Klay as simmons can't shoot, and really all Klay can do is shoot.

They would have a core of Sexton, Osman, Nance, a top 3 2019 pick (most likely), and a top 3 2020 pick (most likely) and whatever players they can snag from all these other picks they get in deals. Hopefully they can hit some homeruns. Love might still be on the roster by 2020-2021 but who knows.

Yes and Draymond Green and others. You know what I mean.
on a rebuilding team you have the roster spots to give to a few 2nd rounders too-

its a lotto ticket- once in a while you can hit.

either that or like i said- they are sweeteners to get trades done, rent players, etc....
