The kid should have just went on about his business without sending tweets on social media. Now he looks like a complete shit talking, cocky, arrogant, afraid to compete ass clown. I thought he would be better than this. I understand he can be upset about the situation, but don't post shit on social media about being butthurt.

Go watch QB1 on Amazon Prime, he was doing this shit when he was at Bishop Gorman, tweeting shit and having his relatives cover for his ass when coaches came asking why he tweeted shit

Transferring to Miami.

Did not see it happening this fast...I thought he didn't graduate till the spring?
"For those asking about Martell’s eligibility, there are 2 things to know. 1. if Martell graduates from Ohio State in May before coming to Miami, he would then be immediately eligible. 2. However, according to longtime CFB reporter Bruce Feldman, Martell is expected to redshirt/sit out as a transfer in 2019 before returning to the field with 2 years of eligibility remaining in 2020."

Wow, if true... Hurts could go and start this year, if he wanted.

It'd set a dangerous precedent for the NCAA not to in this day of racial outrage, as it should honestly.

I completely disagree. I think UGA handled the situation well. Some random kid made racial remarks towards him. That's horrible. The school investigated and dismissed the kid from the team, which I think was a good reaction. I don't see how he can then come back and say UGA is a hostile environment, when they clearly responded to help him, and there's no other evidence of misbehavior. The NCAA should absolutely deny the waiver. Everyone knows the real reason he's now a Buckeye. He wasn't a good enough football player to be a starter at UGA. He knew he wasn't good enough to win the starting job, didn't want to compete to try to get better, so decided to leave to go elsewhere. That's the reason he transferred, and no other, should have to sit like everyone else.

If Fields can’t get immediate eligibility OSU could be in some trouble now. I think he should be eligible as someone who hates transfer rules. On the other hand, the Michigan fan in me wants to see what happens if he’s not.

This transfer thing is a disaster. It’s a double edged sword. I complete understand a kid like Jalen Hurts and think the rule is great for situations like that. This BS with Freshmen QBs transferring is complete nonsense. They haven’t had a full year in the S&C progrAm or college coaching and they think they should start over guys that have 2-3 years head start on them. They are transferring because they brought a knife to a gun fight in most cases. Guve yourself a little time to at least make it a fair fight before you leave. I really think they need to roll this back. I think this should only be available to upper classmen (by educational designation). Under classmen should have to get a waiver from an advisory board under certain situations (I.e family, sanctions, etc)

It just gives frustrated divas a vehicle for more of their drama. Frankly, I prefer when they leave and take their shit elsewhere. Blake Barnett is a good example. He proved beyond a shadow of a doubt he wasn’t all as advertised. Good riddance.

Yeah, I think he was fully expecting to be the clear-cut starter. Not a good look calling someone out, then leaving when they show up. I don't know much about him, so... I'll keep it at that.

Fromm was the incumbent who had them on the brink of a national title, stop acting like Fields is some bum.

And it wasn't some random kid, it was a fellow student-athlete who repeatedly called him the N word. I agree wholeheartedly that UGA handled things correctly, but that's still a bell that can't be unrung. It's just a bad look for the NCAA to tell him "Your feelings come second in this matter even though you were repeatedly called something horribly offensive." If you look recently, there have been waivers granted for much less. Check out Antonio Williams at UNC or Jack Wohlabough at Duke. If those guys can get waivers, Fields should have no problem whatsoever.

Oh, I think transfer rules are extremely unfair to the players, and give all the power to the coaches and schools, who already have too much power. But they are the rules right now, and exceptions should be limited . But I don't know what you're worried about. I think he's significantly worse than Haskins in decision making and reads, which is hard to coach out of someone. It's weird Buckeyes are so excited about him. Yeah, I thought he was really dynamic in Georgia high school ball too. I actually thought he was a better fit for Clemson than Lawrence (I was obviously very wrong). But college is a very different ball game from a small Georgia high school (where he actually lost a bunch of games). tOSU wants to join the elite ranks of college football and beat Clemson, Alabama, and UGA, so they bring in a QB who is transferring because he was worse than the worst of those three teams QBs. I think Martell is a big loss. He's short yeah, but he had significantly better stats in high school playing against much, much better competition than Fields.

They'll need to add another body to the QB room, but I wouldn't be so quick to just assume Matthew Baldwin is going to be horrible. He's not as talented as Fields, but he's also not some bum who's going to come in and have no idea how to play.

Yup it’s a pretty real problem right now. There’s no guarantee on his eligibility which would leave us with only two scholarship QBs.

He’s pretty darn young that’s all and would be THE ONLY real option and OSUs season would entirely sit on his shoulders. OSU would be down to two scholarship QBs on the roster.

He's a RS Freshman. Anymore, that seems to be a pretty normal spot for kids to start playing. I'm not wild about Chuganov being his backup, but another thing to consider would be if Fields does have to sit out (and it sounds like we should hear sooner rather than later), this would be a dream spot for Jalen Hurts to come to for his final year. We could at least win a B1G title with him at QB. If not him, it does seem like there are other options.

Hey Sloopy, do tell, what did you disagree with in my post above? I feel like everything I said was a fact.

  • I was impressed with Fields in High School - Fact
  • College is a different level from high school - Fact
  • Harrison High lost a lot of games (they went 9-4 his senior year, and lost 7 in two years) - Fact
  • Ohio State wants to compete with Clemson, Bama, and UGA - Fact
  • Justin Fields couldn't start at any of those teams - Fact
  • Martell is short - Fact
  • He had significantly better stats than Fields in High School - Martell- 64% of passes completed for 2,400 yards and 41 touchdowns and 1 interception and 1,257 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns (he maintained a high level of production for 3 seasons) - Fields - 66% of passes completed for 2,770 yards and 23 touchdowns and 6 interceptions and 1,176 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns - Fact
  • Martell played against much better competition in high school than Fields - Fields played 5A Georgia ball, they played one top 100 football team his senior year in high school and were blown out by them. Played none his junior year and was blown out in the playoffs - Martell played at Bishop Gorman, never lost a game in 3 years, and beat 15 top 100 teams. He also won a national championship, came in 2nd another year and 7th his sophomore year, and had 3 state titles. His final game, he led his team to a 84-8 victory over a top 100 team in Liberty. - Fact
Everything I said was a fact. You just don't like the conclusion that the facts point to.

There's so much potato in this post I don't even know where to begin?

Let's start at if "tOSU wants to join the elite ranks of college football and beat Clemson, Alabama, and UGA..."

We just went 89-9 in the Urban era, never losing more than 2 games a year in 7 seasons. What in the holy hell are you talking about if we want to join their ranks? Btw, we finished ahead of UGA in every one of those seasons but one. We're a shade behind Clemson and Alabama, but hardly a tier below.

he's (Fields) significantly worse than Haskins in decision making and reads

JFC, you trying to tell us we need to upgrade QB's in order to compete? We just sent the #1 QB to the NFL draft but somehow we're supposed to have gotten better this year? Btw, how much film have you watched on a Freshman QB that gives you any indication he's "significantly" worse? He's a Freshman for Christ sake. Tua and Lawrence are two freak anomaly's. Fromm had just taken UGA within an eye last of a NC, yet we need to throw in the towel on Fields in your opinion because he can't immediately beat out any of those guys? Fields would be the highest ranked recruit in our program's history. He's already in the top 5 of Heisman odds next year. But in your infinite wisdom on some mop of duty have pegged him as significantly worse? Ok lol.

He lost a bunch of games in high school Georgia football.

Had a cast of clowns around him perhaps? Last time I checked there's 11 players on both sides of the balls. But to have been the #2 overall high school recruit, I'm going to venture and say the scouts weren't too worried about his abilities.

I'm not worried about it really, I would just like more chaos to happen to OSU. The more the better for us; especially with a brand new head coach trying to make things work in his first year.

So..... Fields sucks, and OSU stands no chance because he wouldn't be able to beat out the only QB rated higher than him in his class, the highly rated incumbent QB, or the Heisman runner up for a starting spot. Also, Tate is much, much better because he tore it up in HS.

Cool

I don't see Hurts coming it would benefit him more at Oklahoma and I wouldn't blame him though we would love to have him in Miami. We still have Jarren Williams at QB on the roster who was highly touted so things are still looking up.

As of right now without seeing either one playing much college football if I were to choose between the two it would be Fields all day not taking anything away from Martell and I am glad we got him just being real. Fields is a beast!
